Sermon Text I Genesis 12:1-3 When men began to multiply on the earth, daughters were born to them.
And when the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, they took wives of all they liked.
My spirit will not dwell with men forever, says the LORD, for they are made flesh, but their days shall be one hundred and twenty years.
Sermon content
God judged the world with a flood in the days of Noah, and only Noah and his family of 8 were saved.
Thus, all mankind became descendants of Shem Ham Japheth, the three sons of Noah.
Among the descendants of Noah's son Shem, God took Abraham (the 12th descendant of Noah) from Ur of the Chaldeans.
He called and led them to Canaan.
Abraham obeyed the word of the Lord, and his wife Sarah, his nephew Lot, and all that he had gathered in Haran,
He led those who had obtained them into Canaan.
God said, “Stay.” He went to the land of God and built an altar to the LORD.
Lesson
1. God's command
God began a new work of salvation by commanding Abraham. That command is
1) First, they are told to leave the homeland of their relatives and fathers.
Belonging on the basis of the world and human beings, leaving from moving along the courts of blood and flesh, brotherhood, and local government
It means to belong on the basis of God and to move and act according to God and the truth.
2) Second, go to the land to be instructed.
Wherever God tells you to go, even if you do not know the route you will take or what you will encounter there.
You can go anywhere.
God is all-powerful, without ignorance or inability,
He is the Sovereign Lord who is in charge of everything, so believe and obey His promises.
2. Seven blessings promised to Abraham
1) to make a great nation;
2) Bless you,
3) Make your name great,
4) Make it a source of blessing,
5) Bless those who bless,
6) Curse those who curse,
7) He promised that all peoples on the earth would be blessed through Abraham.
3. You can take anything that goes along with obedience to commands.
In serving God and obeying his commands, there are people, possessions, or anything that is with them
can take But anything that is not with it must be thrown away.
No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God (Luke 9:62).
