Abraham's faith
1. Faith justified by faith without merit (1-8)
(Romans 4:2-3) If Abraham was justified by works, he had something to boast about, but not before God. What does the scriptures say? Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as impartial.
. “Abraham believed in the Lord, and the Lord counted it to him as righteousness” (Genesis 15:6).
. Abraham was justified by faith before circumcision.
. Abraham was justified by faith before the law.
2. Faith of absolute obedience
(Hebrews 11:8) By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went out to a land he was to receive as an inheritance, and he went out, not knowing where he was going.
(Genesis 12:4) So Abram did as the LORD said, and Lot went with him; and Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.
3. Faith in the promise -- (Romans 4:21) He was convinced that he was also able to fulfill what he had promised.
4. Belief in the possibility even in impossible circumstances
(Romans 4:18-21) “Abraham hoped and believed in hopelessness”
** Fruit of Faith **
1. (Romans 4:7-8) Blessed are those whose iniquities are forgiven and whose sins are covered.
As it is said, “Blessed is the man whom the Lord will not acknowledge his sin.”
2. Become an here. i.e. heres.
(Romans 8:17) If children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, for we must suffer with him in order to be glorified with him.
(Romans 4:16) Therefore, heirs are by faith in order to belong to the grace, so that the promise may be made to all their descendants, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. The ancestor of us all before.
