[ Lee Sang-hoon ] Abraham's Faith
Hebrews 11:8-10
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called.
He went out to a land he was to receive as an inheritance, and he did not know where he was going.
went out, and by faith he promised as if he were in a foreign country.
Isaac, who sojourned in the earth and heir with him of the same promise
They dwelt in tents with Jacob, which God had planned.
He was looking for a city with a foundation to build.

We call Abraham the father of faith.
So who was Abraham?
Abraham was born in the region of Ur in the Chaldeans.
His father was Terah and he had two younger brothers, Nahar and Haran (Genesis 1:26).
At that time, Abraham's name was Abram.
One day, Abram and his family moved to a region called Haran, where Abram's father Terah died, and Abram was 75 years old at that time. And then Abram was called by God.
“Then the LORD said to Abram, “Leave your land, your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you” (Genesis 12:1).
and God
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, and you will be a blessing” (Genesis 12:2).
Abram took his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot and went to Canaan, the land God had instructed.
There, he separated from his nephew Lot, and his nephew Lot left for Sodom and Gomorrah.
But war broke out in the region where Lot lived, and Abram gathered troops and went to rescue his nephew Lot.
On the way back from saving Lot, you will receive the blessing of Melchizedek, the king and priest of Salem.
There, Abram gives a tenth of what he has to Melchizedek. This is the beginning of tithing.
After that, God called Abram and told him many things.
He prophesied that Abram's descendants would prosper and that they would be slaves in Egypt for 400 years.
Abraham had one more son besides Isaac.
Abram's wife Sarai was unable to bear children, so she had a son through Sarai's servant Hagar, whose name was Ishmael. Ishmael is from countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Syria, ie, have you ever heard of Islam? In the Middle East, with the exception of Israel, all Muslim countries are Muslims. And not long afterward, God said to Abram, “Your name will no longer be called Abram, but will be called Abraham, because I have made you the father of many nations” (Genesis 17:5). So I became Abraham. And his wife, Sarai, became Sarah.
After that, God comes to the tent where Abraham is staying.
And he promised to attack Sodom and Gomorrah. God also promises to give Abraham a son through Sarah. The person who was born in Grace was Isaac. Abraham was 100 years old at this time. His older brother, Ishmael, tortured Isaac every day. So Abraham drove Ishmael and his mother Hagar out into the wilderness together.
As Isaac grows to a certain extent, God's great test comes. (Genesis 22:1~19)
He was to offer up his son Isaac, whom he had when he was 100 years old, as a burnt offering. Do you know our friends well?
Abraham passed this test. Now God promises clearly.
“I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that because you have done this, and have not withheld your only son, your only son, I will bless you and make your offspring great, like the stars in the sky, and like the sand on the seashore. You will have the gates of your enemies, and through your offspring all peoples under the world will be blessed, because you have obeyed my words.” (Genesis 22:16-18)
Abraham was truly a man of faith. Abraham's faith was the faith of obedience.
No matter what God said, Abraham believed and followed.
When God told Abraham to go to the land he had indicated, he did not know where to go.
But I knew someone to guide me. Abraham is the one who has the faith who completely depended on God and obeyed Him.
What did Abraham receive?
First, the offspring prospered. Abraham was not the only ancestor of Israel.
They are also the ancestors of Muslims. Not only that, but by faith, he became the father of all believers.
second. I got an appointment. to whom? to God. That's the promise.
God made a covenant with Abraham and fulfilled it.
third. I was chosen and set apart. In 1 Peter 2:9
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession.”
fourth. He reveals the will of God.
fifth. You fill your needs.
Those of you who have faith will receive this kind of blessing.
Like Abraham, a person of faith who depended only on God and obeyed only God
offspring prosper. And God comes first and gives you a promise. God came to Abraham first and gave him a promise. Also, he specifically selects and separates them.
Distinguish them as children of God and people of God. To believe in God means that God has already come to you, that you have been promised salvation, and that you have been chosen. To have been chosen by God means to become God's children and to become God's people. So who will guide our way and who will protect us? It is God.
And he knows everything you need and supplies it generously. Abraham needed a son. It was a very earnest wish. But look. He gave him his son.
He also reveals the will of God. Look at Genesis 18:17.
“Shall I hide from Abraham what I am about to do,” he said.
God does not hide His will from those who have faith.
God has given us the Bible as a gift.
When people who do not know God read it, they simply read it as a book, but those who believe read it as the Word of God. And you learn what the world doesn't know. You will know the great will of God right away. This is the blessing that people who have faith receive.
Our friends also have faith like Abraham. What kind of belief is that?
It is a faith that only trusts and obeys God.
So, I bless you in the name of the Lord that you may receive the blessing that Abraham received.
