Title: Faith of Joseph!/Genesis 40
Content Title: Joseph's Faith!
Bible: Genesis 40
Date: 1998. 7. 26 (Sunday) Sunday afternoon at Mission Church
1. God focused on Joseph. / It is more important to be focused on God than it is to be focused on people.
2. The road to being sold into slavery is also in God's hands. / The fastest way is not what we know, but the way God has prepared and the way he leads.
3. The important thing is that God is with you. / As long as God is with us, everything is OK. When God is with you, ① you can see that God is with you in the eyes of others, ② you become a successful person in everything, ③ you become a person trusted by others, and ④ you become a source of blessing for those around you.
Today we will look at Joseph's faith and use it as a model for our faith.
1. Joseph was a faithful man. (Verse 6) / Because he was faithful in everything he entrusted to him, God could bless him, he could prosper, and his master entrusted him with all household affairs.
Also, while he was in prison, he was faithful to the work of the prison. (Verses 22-23) / It was said that Jeonok entrusted all the affairs to Joseph and never looked back on what he had entrusted to him.
What's going on in prison? It would have been really insignificant. But Joseph was faithful in whatever he was assigned to do, wherever he was.
Ex) There are a lot of unemployed people these days, but there are no workers in factories. The reason is how the boss can become a laborer, the work is hard, and the salary is low.
Proverbs 22:29 Have you seen a man who is sincere in his business? Such a man will stand before kings, and not before lowly ones.
God is the stronghold of the faithful, and has prepared perfect wisdom for him.
2. It is an all-weather worker. (Verse 5) / He did everything in the field, in the household, in the business, without any hesitation. Therefore, he went crazy with all that he owned in his house and field. When we pray, we do not pray vaguely, but it is important to pray for family, pray for business, and build a platform of worship.
Ex) An American farmer's prayer for themselves / It is said that he experienced the healing of the land only after he lifted the curse of becoming polluted and unfruitful due to the idolatry of Native Americans bound to them through prayer.
3. Joseph's appearance was modest and modest. / The word “observe” refers to a very neat appearance as if trimmed. And the word “small” means that he was a very attractive man who was clean, handsome, and handsome without being overly tough. Appearance is always something that emanates from its inner state. There are people who are good-looking but want to stay away from them, and there are people who look very bearish and want to be close to them. It is the inner beauty of that person, and it is stylish. Joseph's appearance with God must have been stronger than any man in the world had.
Satan's Snare / Now, this is Joseph's strength, but Satan does not let it go. Potiphar's wife feels an attraction in Joseph that no other man in the world has ever felt. If you hug a man like that once in the world, you would have thought that there would be no circle.
The woman's desires become more and more intense. Every day he makes a wink, but Joseph doesn't even look at him. The woman gets hotter, but she can't help it. And finally, as a last resort, when Joseph is about to come, everyone in the house is sent out. And to actively and finally seduce him.
What you are always good at is his strength if you use it in God, but you must realize that it can become a snare of Satan that can lead you to sin against God and ruin your life.
Ex) A person with a lot of knowledge, a person with a lot of ability, a person with good speech, a person with excellent appearance, a person with strong power, a person with a lot of money, a person with good energy.
Therefore, I should not take all my members and present them to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present them to God as instruments of righteousness.
4. Some Secrets of Joseph Resisting Temptation
1) I formally and politely declined. (Verses 8-9) / I refused to be offended by telling the story of my husband and God in a way that I could understand.
2) They weren't together. (Verse 10) / Yet, when he continued to seduce, he shunned such places and was not even with them. It was said to be silent, dark, and dark. There is no business that can overcome temptation while approaching it with the conditions of temptation. In particular, fornication should be avoided.
3) He ran away at the crucial moment (v. 12). / If he couldn't, he should run away.
Example) A man running away from Yeongdeungpo Station
5. Joseph's faith to decide everything before God (verse 9) / Potiphar's wife had always been immersed in such a life and did not consider it evil. But when Joseph thinks before God, it is a very great evil. It is impossible to do this great evil.
6. Joseph, a man of righteousness (verses 8-9) / He was in the position of a servant who was completely loyal to his master. Because God was with me, I didn't get cocky or arrogant. He knew very clearly that he was a servant, and that his master had been kind to me, and he was now looking at the work of the secretary. And I say clearly that I cannot betray my master.
Nor would he have been able to say anything else when his angry master questioned him, beat him, and sent him to prison.
Those who believe in Jesus must have faith. Occasionally, there are people who believe in Jesus, but have no real loyalty to them. God does not bless these people very much. A person must have integrity. So, don't be shallow, you have to be trusted.
7. The woman's revenge (verses 13-20) / Satan's revenge for true and pure faith and righteousness was a plot. What Joseph gained by keeping his faith and righteousness was to be beaten to death and imprisoned.
Rumors of the stars must have spread among people. No one had ever seen him, so Joseph would have now betrayed his master's favor and had been sold as an unscrupulous man trying to rape his master's wife, and there was no way to explain it. Joseph was imprisoned for these false accusations, but Joseph still maintains his identity. He is doing his job diligently without any fuss. What a handsome man he looks like!
This is Joseph's victory. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due time you will reap a harvest if you do not grow weary (Galatians 6:9)
8. God's comfort (verse 21) / Even though people insulted and criticized Joseph, God was still with him. And he made Joseph prosper in everything. He gave Jeon-ok a favor. Those who live before God seem to perish, but they never perish. If God approves of him, then everything is OK.
Now let's summarize everything so far.
My father's house -> Abused by my brothers -> Sold as a slave to the house of the protester -> Imprisoned as a prisoner in a prison where only the king's prisoners are held. -> Became Prime Minister at the Royal Palace.
1) Sincerity
2) Overcoming sin before God.
3) Do not forsake human grace.
4) Do not complain and trust only God.
1. Joseph is faithful in all things
2. Joseph, who did not choose human and worldly methods under any temptation, thought and decided everything before God
3. Joseph overcame temptation by verbally rejecting the temptation and avoiding the temptation.
4. A person who knows how to cherish the loyalty to the owner who recognized him.
God was fulfilling his will for Joseph according to the dream he had given him, and there was no reason for disqualification. Since that dream came from God, you only have to live before God to make that dream come true. No matter what people say, even if my circumstances are imprisoned, even if I am faced with injustice, living with faith, thanksgiving and prayer before God is the key to victory in life. Hallelujah!
