Title: The Leper's Faith
Bible: Matthew 8:1-4
Starting Point of the Word>>
This time we would like to share a message with the title of “The Faith of the Leper.”
In the Bible, there are many instances of praising and worshiping the Lord by being healed of physical ailments.
Today's text is also about the leper Jesus healed.
If we look at verse 1 of the text,
“When Jesus came down from the mountain, a great crowd followed him. A leper came and bowed down and said, “Lord, if you will, you can make him clean.”
make a confession.
When we too are living our life of faith, there are times when we can't worship God because of physical and spiritual suffering, and we cry and beat our hearts.
However, in times like these, I ask you in the name of the Lord to become believers in faith who, like lepers, can receive the grace of the Lord and praise God and stand in the work of God's amazing grace today.
Go to Word>>
So, how could the leper be healed by Jesus today?
First, the leper came to Jesus and bowed down before Him.
If we look at the words of verse 2,
“A leper came and bowed down and said, “Lord, if you will, you can make him clean.”
Says.
The leper who was now standing before Jesus knew what his situation was.
And he believed that only Jesus could heal him.
It is natural for him to bow down to Jesus.
The word bowing here means “to worship” and “to kneel down”. He knelt before Jesus and prayed that he would be healed of his disease.
The way to heal our spiritual and physical ailments is to surrender everything before the Lord and kneel down and pray.
Only then can we experience the grace of God who heals us.
And this patient is bowing down to Jesus and crying out, “Lord”.
At that time, Jews used the word rabbi a lot when referring to people they respected or teachers of the law, but he used the word 'Lord'.
The word “Lord” here means “Curier” in the original language, which is an honorific term used when a servant calls his master or a subordinate calls a superior.
Therefore, we can see that he did not see the Lord as a mere scholar or religious leader, but as the Lord of life and the King of kings.
In the Bible, there are people who have been greatly blessed by making a correct confession about Jesus.
This is Peter, who was Jesus' chief disciple.
When Jesus asked the question, “Who do people say that I am?”, the other disciples preached the people’s words and said, “Elijah,” “John the Baptist,” and “one of the prophets,” but Peter answered, “You are the Christ. You are the Son of the living God.” He was praised by Jesus and promised great blessings from heaven.
However, this leper who appears in today's text also calls Jesus “Lord”, so we can see the grace of being born out of physical suffering.
When you know and worship Jesus Christ correctly, you can experience the healing grace of the Lord.
Second, we see that the leper who bowed down to Jesus is not speaking his own will, but is first asking the Lord's will.
This is the middle part of verse 2.
“Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”
Now this leper is asking the Lord if he has any heart for Jesus to heal him.
What do we do when we pray?
We offer thorough self-centered prayers such as ‘God must give this to you’, ‘If you don’t give it to me, I don’t know what to do’.
However, this sick man did not unilaterally demand that he be cured of his illness, but showed a willingness to entrust everything according to the will of the Lord.
In the same way, we who live today should always realize what the will of the Lord is, become people who live only according to the will of the Lord rather than follow our own will, and live a life that keeps the word of the Lord.
When Jesus himself was in the flesh on this earth, he knew the Father's will before his own will, and he did the Father's will.
Even when praying on the Mount of Olives, he confessed, “Father, if it is your will, remove this cup from me, but not my will, but your will.” You did.
Therefore, even today, even if there is any pain or disadvantage, we must discern the will of God the Father in Jesus and obey it under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Third, and finally, this leper believed in the power of Jesus,
He confessed to the Lord, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.”
This is because he believed and said that Jesus had the power to heal his sickness.
In this way, the Lord grants grace and power to those who acknowledge, believe, and confess Himself as Almighty.
When you come to Jesus by faith, Jesus never disappoints.
However, the people of Jesus' hometown rejected Him and did not believe in Him, so He did not perform any miracles in His hometown.
Even now, the Lord gives grace according to our faith.
Therefore, we, too, should not become those without faith, but those who have faith and live a blessed life through the power and grace of Jesus.
At the end of the speech>>
Today, this leper experienced the grace of being healed of physical ailments by meeting Jesus.
We know that this physical illness means the problems of our lives today.
In order for us to experience the grace of being healed like this leper, we must first become saints who bow down before the Lord.
You must also become a saint who correctly understands the Lord and confesses with faith.
Finally, I experienced the grace of the Lord through faith in the power of Jesus.
I bless you in the name of the Lord that you will lay down the problems of life we are facing right now before the Lord and become believers who fully experience God's grace.
