a believer who honors
(2006.11.19. Thanksgiving) (Luke 17:11-19)
I don't have any separated family members around me, but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with me, but sometimes I watch TV programs called "I want to meet you once".
What I feel every time I look at it is - I think the people who come out there to find their family are wonderful people.
Most of them are children looking for their mothers who abandoned them when they were young, or for their fathers who abused them and made them leave their homes.
Even though I am a mother who abandoned her and a father who abused her, I am thankful that she came out to me after seeing her after decades. Thank you for giving birth to me. Thank you for being alive. - Even though they lived in a harsh world, their personality was not twisted - Seeing that they grew up to be grateful people - don't they think that they are wonderful people just by that?
How much more grateful God is to the God who did not forsake us, did not abuse us, chose us, and loved us. We should give thanks greatly to such a God.
* Confess in a loud voice - “Thank God” - and listen to the Word today.
1. A person who has received grace.
Prophet Habakkuk was a great believer who knew how to be thankful even under conditions that no one could thank. (Habakkuk 3:17-18) - “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no vines on the vines, the olive trees produce no crops, though there are no sheep, no sheep in the pen, no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” I'm still grateful to see it. I am infinitely grateful for being saved by God. That should be the attitude of a true believer.
Are you saying you don't have enough faith? - You could say that. - So today, I would like to tell you to be grateful even for the grace you have received.
What grace have you received so far? What blessings have you received this year?
Let's read today's text
(17:17) - "Jesus answered and said, Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the nine?" - Jesus met 10 lepers whom he thought were incurable at the time. - They all come out and say, “Have mercy on us.” Jesus healed all ten of them without any discrimination, no distinction, no condition. - All ten out of ten have received grace.
If it is ten, it is ten, if it is one hundred, one thousand, if it is one thousand - I pray that anyone who comes before the Lord believes that he has received grace.
*Many people must have died in their sleep last night - be grateful to be alive
*There will be many people who are shivering from the cold even at this time - It is a blessing to worship in a warm place.
* It is God's grace that gave us good air to breathe, our daily bread, and the life that we can enjoy.
2. The person giving the case.
As we saw earlier, there is not a single person in the world who has not received any grace from God.
However, not many people know the grace they have received. Fewer people know and honor grace.
Out of 10 people, all 10 received grace and were cleansed.
But not all 10 people thanked - 9 out of 10 didn't appreciate it.
There was only one person out of ten who knew how to thank, who could give thanks.
Today, I pray that you will become saints who know how to give thanks and who know how to give thanks.
*Please follow.
①God loves everyone in the world.-Amen!! ②Jesus loves those who believe.-Amen!! ③ Blessings are received by those who know how to be thankful.-Amen!!
Dear saints, keep this one thing in your heart today - If you keep these words in mind, you are a very rewarding person.
Although God loves the whole world - the love of Jesus is only for those who believe - great blessings come from those who believe, even among those who know how to be thankful.
Please do not forget the grace you have received. Don't be stingy with things to be thankful for. Thank you for everything. - It is God's will for us in Jesus to give thanks in everything.
3. A person who is greatly blessed.
How much grace is it to heal the sick? But who did not end with that grace and received greater blessings?
(17:18-19)- “Is there no one who has returned to glorify God except this Gentile?” He said to him, “Rise and go, for your faith has saved you.” -Amen!!
You can receive all the basic grace as long as you meet Jesus.
But real clothes are given to those who know how to be grateful.
Who is the only person who has received blessings that others can't? -
(17:15-16)- “One of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, glorifying God with a loud voice, and fell at the feet of Jesus and gave thanks, for he was a Samaritan.”
*Those who glorify God receive great blessings - Amen!! *Those who give thanks on their knees receive great blessings - Amen!!
We do not know how many lepers lived in the area. - But one thing is clear.
① A leper who did not come to Jesus - He must have lived as a leper and died as a leper.
② Among those who came to Jesus, ten out of ten received grace. - That's the basic blessing.
③ Those who knew how to feel the grace they had received, who knew they were grateful, and who knew how to give thanks - in addition to basic grace - were blessed with overflowing and overflowing blessings.
Dear saints, we are not those who have turned away from Jesus. We are all believers in Jesus. We are people who have been blessed with many blessings to this day.
But I don't want you to stop with the basic blessings.
If this is the case, shouldn't we receive a greater blessing? Wouldn't it be better to receive more blessings?
Please don't forget the grace. Thank you for everything. Knowing grace - If you have a grateful heart for that grace, I hope that you will become believers who can give thanks.
So, consider the grace you have received so far as a basic grace - and in the future - I pray that you will receive a greater grace than all the grace you have received, and more abundantly than all the blessings you have received.
Let's be grateful for being born into the world. Let's give thanks for being born again as people of faith. Thank you for worshiping today. Let's give thanks for giving us our daily bread and protecting our lives.
Let's look back on this year and give thanks for the Thanksgiving service. - Thank you very much for the grace you have received, and I wish you more blessings next year than this year.
This sermon is followed by a communion service - let us thank Jesus for dying on the cross to save us from our sins. I hope that you will be the saints who give thanks and give thanks to the grace of Jesus, who only rejoiced in saving us even though he was wounded and shed blood.
