Title: Faithful Servants
Contents
This text is about the master and his servants among the words of Jesus to his disciples who admired the temple in Jerusalem. The contents are as follows.
When a master went to another country, he entrusted his possessions to his servants. They gave one five talents of gold, the other two talents of gold, and the other one talent of gold, according to their talents.
The one who received the five talents and the one who received the two talents went immediately and became rich, making ten and four talents respectively. The one who received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid the money of their master.
After a long time, the owner returned and made an account with us. The servants started reporting to their masters. The master commended each of the servants who received the five and two talents and left twice as much. “Well done, good and faithful servant, since you have been faithful over a few things, I will entrust you with many things; enter into the joy of your master.”
The one who had received one talent also came and reported it. “Lord, I knew that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter, so I was afraid and went out and hid your talent in the ground.”
The master said to the servant. “You wicked and lazy servant, did you know that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not sown? Then you should leave my money with the money grabbers, and then come back to me and receive my wages and profits.” Give it to the one who has it, and everyone who has it will receive and have an abundance, and from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
Not only this year, but also until the day when the Lord comes in the future, we must each become disciples of the Lord who receive recognition, praise, and promises, just like the servants who received five talents of gold and two talents under the given circumstances. Three things must be remembered and practiced. It is the fact that all possessions belong to God, and loyalty is to be done immediately, and to be faithful in small things. Otherwise, even what you have will be taken away.
