Sermon Text I Genesis 3:1-6 The serpent was the most cunning of all the wild beasts that the Lord God had made.

The woman said to the serpent, We may eat from the tree of the garden,

From the tree in the center of the garden is the word of God, You must not eat or touch it, lest you die.

The serpent said to the woman, You will never die.

God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasing to the eye, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate, and gave it to her husband with her, and he also ate.

Sermon content

Adam reigned in the Garden of Eden by giving names to all livestock, birds of the air, and all beasts of the field. However, Eve, who was tricked by the devil who came wearing a serpent, ate the forbidden fruit and gave it to her husband, Adam, who also ate.

Adam and Eve, who sinned, were ashamed and covered themselves with leaves, but again their shame was exposed, and they hid themselves from the presence of God among the trees. When God called, Adam blamed God and Eve for the serpent.

God punishes them who have sinned, saying, “Snakes will crawl on their stomachs, and the offspring of women will bruise their heads; Eve will be governed by the pain of childbirth and longing for her husband; eat, and eventually return to the dust.” You did.

Cursed is the earth to produce thorns and thistles. Adam and Eve were driven out of the Garden of Eden by putting on the skin garments made by God to cover their shame.

Lesson

1. Eve's Crime

God said, “You may eat from any fruit in the Garden of Eden, but do not eat from the fruit of good and evil, for in the day you eat of it you will surely die. You did. But the devil, who entered through the serpent, deceived Eve and gave each other the words, “Truly,” “You must not eat from any tree in the garden,” “Do not touch,” “I fear you will die,” and “You will never die.” Therefore, they added or subtracted from the Word of God and made them eat the fruit of the forbidden fruit by lying. So Eve sinned by eating the forbidden fruit.

Realize that God's Word is an infallible, authoritative Word with absoluteness, so you must not be swayed by the devil's delusions in reality and obey it completely.

2. Adam's Crime

Through Eve, Adam also ate of the forbidden fruit. As the representative of mankind, Adam made a covenant of works with God with the tree of good and evil. By breaking this covenant, all mankind belonging to the first Adam fell into sin (Romans 5:12). This is called original sin, and because of that sin, all original sins (sins of a lifetime) come out. There is no one without sin (Romans 3:9-12).

3. Consequences of the crime

1) A shameful shame was revealed.

2) He became an enemy of God and man and all things.

3) He was cursed and suffered.

4) He died spiritually and physically.

5) They were expelled from the Garden of Eden.

4. Covenant of Grace

God, who is rich in grace, was angry with Adam who sinned, but he sent Jesus Christ, the second Adam, to this earth to save mankind (Romans 5:17). As a type, He clothed them in the skins of animals and promised that the offspring of women would bruise the serpent's head (Genesis 3:15).

The shame caused by a crime can only be covered by the merits of the blood of Jesus, the Lamb, and only Jesus can overcome Satan and save us. Also, the toil and pain that a sinner suffers is not a curse, but a means to achieve salvation from that situation and a gift from God.
