Contents Family Life/Colossians 3:18~25
4. Family Life
Verse 18: Wives, submit to your husbands, as it is proper in the Lord.
Verse 19, Husbands, love your wives and do not trouble them.
It emphasizes the mutual responsibility between husband and wife by saying that the husband should love his wife just as a wife submits to her husband. The love mentioned here is agape love in the original Greek, and it is the love that takes responsibility for the happiness and peace of the wife as God loves us. is . And the husband should not give pain and suffering as if he were a slave in the position of a tyrant. He should love the church as Jesus Christ loved the church even to the point of shed blood on the cross.
Verse 20, Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is joy in the t. *********
Verses 20 and 21 describe the relationship between parents and children. First, children must obey their parents in Jesus Christ with reverence. This is what truly pleases the Lord. Honor your father and mother.” (Exodus 20:12)
Verse 21, Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, lest they become discouraged.
Now, we are talking about the attitude of anger towards children. Children are children of God, not the property of their parents. Rebellion against these parents and even running away from home will cause social problems. Parents will not only treat their children strictly, but spend a lot of time with their children and talk with them with love, so that the children themselves respect and love their parents. You have to lead it to happen.
Therefore, as Christians, we must not let our children become angered by the unkind attitude of our parents or become helpless by discouragement. And we must realize deeply that our children are fundamentally children of God, have a stewardship mission, and do our best to raise them as children of God.
Verse 22, Servants, obey your masters of the flesh in all things, not blindfolded like those who please men, but in a sincere heart in the fear of the Lord. **************
From verse 22, we talk about the relationship between masters and servants, but first, in this verse, we explain what we must do in the position of slaves. The relationship between masters and servants can be seen as the labor-management relationship of general corporations in modern society, or the relationship between superiors and subordinates. However, in any case, it is not obedient obedience to be seen and pleasing to others. You must obey your superiors as if you were serving the Lord with fear and trembling.
Workers need sincerity. Many people are blindfolded, trying to run on the road to success, and trying to get a lot of money at once, but in our lives, there is no wealth as great as sincerity.
No matter where we work or where we are, we must do our best and work diligently in the place where we are working. This is God's law. Therefore, a faithful husband, a faithful wife, and a sincere office worker must have a future. Because the Bible guarantees this.
Verse 23: Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly, as to the Lord, and not to men. *************
Following verse 22, we emphasize that when we do everything entrusted to us, we should always work with the heart of doing the Lord's work, regardless of big or small things. In this way, we Christians, no matter how small, think that it is the Lord's work and must do it with all our heart and sincerity.
Verse 24, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of your inheritance, for you serve the Lord Christ.***
This verse explains why a servant should be loyal to his master. If he serves his superiors well and works diligently in this world, he will not only be praised by humans, but will also be rewarded by God. The reason is that basically all of these events are to serve Jesus Christ. This is the foundation of Christian ethics.
Verse 25: Those who do iniquity will receive the reward of iniquity, and the Lord does not show favoritism. ***8
Contrary to the previous verse, it describes the consequences the unjust will receive. People try to satisfy their self-interest in disbelief by all means and methods, which may result in temporary prosperity, but the result is a pit of ruin.
Therefore, we Christians should not forget that we believe in God even if we face financial difficulties while living in this world. This is by no means unreasonable. Just as agriculture only thrives when there is rain, air, sunlight, and wind from the sky, those who fully believe in and rely on God can live on this earth and always have victory through God's blessings.
Therefore, we must find the above and think of the above and live. No matter what we do, we must become Christians who glorify God by living our lives faithfully and diligently with a heart to serve God.
