Subject: A house where happiness resides

Text: Psalm 1:1-6, Matthew 5:1-12

What will a happy world look like? It will be when there are many happy families. How do happy families come about? It will be a day when the number of 'houses where happiness resides' increases. What kind of house is the house where happiness dwells? It must be a house where happy people live. What is a happy person? A person who finds and enjoys happiness in given life conditions. I know a quote from Bible Power. [Happiness is to let go of the thoughts of dissatisfaction and to accept the gift of heaven. It’s about letting go of the desire to have more and making what you already have the most valuable] There are bible verses that come to mind. These are the teachings of Jesus (Luke 12:15), Moses' farewell sermon (Deuteronomy 10:13), and Hebrews (Hebrews 13:5). Today's Old Testament text (Psalm 1) and New Testament text (Matthew 5:1-12) also fall under this category.

“Beware, shun all covetousness. A man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions” (Luke 12:15). “Will you not keep the commandments and ordinances of the LORD, which I am giving you today for your happiness?” (Deuteronomy 10:13). “Do not love money, but be content with what you have. He himself said, “I will not forsake you, nor will I ever leave you” (Hebrews 13:5). The happiness that all human beings seek is a grace that God desires to give us. This is because the first grace of the Old Testament blessing became ‘blessing’ (Numbers 6:24). Blessing is the most needed grace for human beings who were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:28). That is why the promise of blessing he made when he called Abraham, the father of faith, was declared (Genesis 12:1-3). The happiness that every human being wants comes from God. It comes from a relationship with God.

So, our response to God's Word determines our actions and our unhappiness. Today's Old Testament text (Psalm 1) is 'the life of the blessed'. It is the attitude of life that overcomes temptations that hinder the path of this blessed life (verse 1) and lives in perfect communion with God (verse 2). The resulting “life like a tree planted by a stream” is a visual description of a happy life (verse 3). Today's New Testament text (Matthew 5:1-12) is also the essence of the Sermon on the Mount, which is the eight blessings. Eight conditions are different from worldly ones. But the grace that comes with it is 'there is happiness'. The first and the last of the eight blessings that God gives is ‘heaven’. It reminds us that life on earth is inextricably linked with life in heaven. All conditions come from a correct understanding of the Word and a response to it. Hearing, believing, and doing (Matthew 7:24).

This is the story of four leaf clover and three leaf clover. The flower language of a four-leaf clover is ‘luck’, and the flower language of a three-leaf clover is ‘happiness’. People wander around looking for a four-leaf clover (lucky), making a three-leaf clover (happiness). In order to get one good luck, I threw away the happiness that lay in the ground and tried to find good luck only from afar. But if you can't find happiness in Now Here, there is no happiness anywhere. The new flower language of three-leaf clover is ‘Now Here!’. Everyone has all the conditions for happiness. Christians are more than those who have been equipped with that condition by God's grace. Let's examine what we have in each of our lives once and for all (2 Corinthians 13:5). The Spirit of Christ in me is my happiness. Hallelujah Amen.
