How should we pray? (Mark 11:20-25)
Franklin Roosevelt was polio disabled. Nevertheless, he became the supreme commander-in-chief of the United States. He was a praying man. As a devout Christian, he lived by prayer every day.
During his presidency, World War II broke out. He appointed Eisenhower as commander and led the invasion of Normandy. The Normandy coast, located in the northwest of France, was a steep cliff, and the night before the amphibious operation it was difficult to carry out the operation due to heavy rain and fog. To overcome this situation and to ensure the operation's success, President Roosevelt agreed to pray with British Prime Minister Churchill and prayed for the operation's success. It is said that Roosevelt prayed to God without moving for 17 hours in the Oval Office.
As a result, with God's help, Operation Normandy was miraculously successful.
Even now, the Lord says, “Ask, and God will give you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and God will open to you 8 For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Who among you will give your son a stone when he asks for bread?
10 If you ask for fish, who will give you a snake? 11 If you, being evil, know how to give good things to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him?"
Yes! When we pray, God is telling us that He is a very good God the Father who hears our prayers and has no choice but to answer them.
It was early morning. It was when Jesus was passing by with his disciples. As Peter saw the fig tree withered and withered, he remembered the day before and spoke to the Lord. Yesterday the Lord said, “The fig tree you cursed has dried up.” said The story goes like this: The previous day, Jesus was hungry, and he tried to get fruit from the fig tree, but when the fruit he was looking for was not found, he said, “From now on you will bear no fruit forever! But today, I saw that “the fig tree had dried up from its roots.” So, Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, look at that, the fig tree you cursed has dried up.” He was so amazed and curious that he said to the Lord. Based on this incident, Jesus prayed to his disciples It is today's text that gave the lesson.
I would like to say a few things about 'how should I pray?' and pray, centering on the teaching of prayer that the Lord has given me today.
First, you must first believe in God in prayer.
In verse 22, Jesus said, “Believe in God.” He said. Because the object of prayer is God, praying without believing in God is nothing more than empty flames and only a few hours in the day. God is the God of believers, and He hears the prayers of believers. It is only when we believe in God that we have the qualifications for basic prayer. The living God who hears prayers! You must believe in the Creator God, who not only hears prayers, but is omnipotent and answers them abundantly.
When you pray with that faith, it becomes prayer-like prayer. Therefore everyone! Living God! Please believe in the Almighty Creator God. When you have that faith, you can pray that is answered.
<Praise> ‘The living Lord, my true hope, I have no worries or worries.’
Second, we must pray for everything.
Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but do everything by prayer and supplication.”
“All things should be done through prayer,” he said. There is nothing that is not the subject of prayer. You must pray for everything, everything. Because everything is in the hands of God.
One of the butlers had his knees open and he couldn't see.
Yeonyu said, “I got this shape because I was kneeling on the floor without even laying on a cushion.”
The deacon said, 'There are many prayer topics,' and I pray three hours a day.'
Julian Raymond said, “The more you pray, the more answers you get.” said The fact that there is much to pray means that there is a large amount to receive answers. Everyone! Please tell God everything and pray.
Third, we must believe and pray that He will answer us.
In verses 22-23, Jesus said, “If you do not doubt in your heart and believe that what is said will happen, it will be done for you. Therefore I tell you Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have already received it. If you do, it will be done for you.”
The saying, “Ask in faith only, and do not have any doubts” means that doubt is absolutely forbidden in prayer. However, only faith is required for prayer. Therefore, ‘whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have already received it. If you do that, it will come true for you.” You must believe and pray. Then you will see your prayers answered.
Although <William Kerry> was a humble shoemaker, he became a person who left a great mark on the missionary work in India. He was a man of prayer. While working as a shoemaker, his faithful goal was, “Expect great things from God. And with that in mind, “Try great things for God,” he prayed tirelessly and fervently. Finally, he entered the Indian missions and remained a great figure in missionary work.
Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things hoped for.” It is also called the law of looking. If you believe that He will do it, look, pray, and go out, one day God will make it a reality. I bless you that the prayer of faith becomes your prayer.
Fourth, we must forgive and pray.
Someone said this. “The wings of the soul grow through a forgiving and forgiving life. If you forgive, you will see Eden beyond the hill. The more you hate, the smaller your soul will be, and the more you forgive, the taller your soul will be. Hatred destroys friendships that have been built for 10 years, but forgiveness restores relationships that have been broken for 10 years. When the door of forgiveness opens, the door of blessing also opens. I hate that someone has done something wrong, but in fact, a bigger mistake than that person is an unforgivable mistake.” said
There was a pastor named Criswell who passed away at the age of 93. His pastoral philosophy was ‘forgiveness’. He said, “Because we were forgiven first, we must live our whole lives forgiving. Stop hating and forgive.” said
In verse 25, Jesus said, “When you stand and pray, if you have turned your back on someone, forgive them. Then your Father in heaven will also forgive your sins.”
It means that we should not pray while leaving it behind in our relationship with each other. In other words, when we pray with our backs on each other, God hears our prayers. If you have anything against each other, please let it go quickly and pray.
Finally, we must pray earnestly.
A bird can fly by it even though its wings are heavy, a ship sails with it even if it has a heavy sail, a train runs through it even if it has a heavy casket, and an airplane flies by it even if it has heavy wings, so prayer must be earnest.
<Brooks> said, "The bread in the picture is not bread, and prayer without earnestness is not prayer." In James 5:17-18, “Elijah was a man of our own nature, but he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months. and the earth brought forth its fruit.”
One day, three people had a discussion about the ‘best prayer posture’. The first person asserted that the “best prayer posture” is important to raise both hands together. The second person said it was best to kneel on the floor and pray. A third person said that standing up is better than kneeling. Then the telephone repairman, who was working next to them and listening to them, couldn't stand it any longer and broke in. “From what I have experienced, the most powerful prayer I prayed while hanging upside down from a 12-meter-tall electric pole.” said
I think he said, 'The best prayer posture' because the prayer I prayed in a tense situation was so earnest.
A young man in Ireland was about to get married the day before. However, the day before the wedding, his beloved fiancee suffered the pain of drowning in the water. He could not overcome his sadness and fell into a swamp of despair. Following the recommendations of friends and people around him, the young man went to Canada to escape the painful place. However, before he could settle there, news came that his mother in her home country was seriously ill and was awaiting death. He was desperate. It was as if all the misfortunes of the world were rushing towards him at once like a tornado.
The young man fell on his knees before God helplessly, heartbroken. And sobbed and cried. "God! Please cure my mother's illness. Please respond. If you do that, I will live for the glory of God for the rest of my life.” He vowed and prayed earnestly to God. In an instant, God's wonderful comfort and peace began to seep into the young man's heart.
And then he called home. I asked for my mother's well-being. But surprisingly, his mother, who was seriously ill, was completely cured like a lie. He made a decision and prayed earnestly to see the miracle of God. - Hallelujah -
With the inspiration that came to him, he took notes of a hymn. The poem reads, “What a good friend our savior, who bears the burden of sin,”’ ‘Someone who is free from all the troubles of exams and worries. Please do not lose heart and pray.” Hymn 487 is the hymn we are familiar with. This young man is Joseph Scriben.
- Hallelujah - An earnest prayer that does not lose heart is a desirable prayer and a prayer that will receive answers.
I hope your prayers are always earnest.
<Prayer>
Lord! when we pray
Almighty God, please believe in the living God and pray!
And let me pray for everything knowing that everything is in God's hands!
Believe and pray that the faithful God will surely answer you!
Please forgive us for turning our backs on each other and pray!
And pray more earnestly and earnestly so that our prayers can be answered!
