Title: How to Kill and How to Save
Contents
God has two laws. One is to kill and the other is to live. These two laws are governed by the law of death for the servant of sin and the law of life for the servant of righteousness.
When we do not yet experience the word of righteousness and know the gospel only by knowledge, we do not experience the saying that we are “not under law, but under grace,” but we are arrogant with knowledge, thinking that we are in Christ, and the truth that there is no condemnation anymore. Quoting even the Word of God only as knowledge, using the gospel as “an opportunity for the flesh” and even using it as a “coverage of evil”, eventually some people even burn their consciences, turning grace into lust.
Regarding this, the Bible exhorts, “Brothers, you were called to liberty, but do not use your liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13). Do not use it as a cover-up for evil, but act as a servant of God” (1 Peter 2:16).
The Bible says that he who discerns “the law of the Spirit of life” and “the law of sin and death” is the one who discerns good and evil. It is the same as it is written, “Solid food belongs to those who are mature, and by using their senses, they are trained to know good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14).
In the words of the Bible, "...the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2), Satan cunningly said, "The law of the Spirit of life." We are still looking for someone to devour, “just as the serpent deceived the tooth by its trickery” with only the words, “I have set you free from the law of sin and death. As it is written, “Some have already turned to Satan” (1 Timothy 5:15).
“The law of the Spirit of life” is the yoke of Christ. When we bear the death of Jesus, we take on the yoke of Christ. Our Lord Jesus said, “Come to me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light. ....' (Mt 11:28-30), Satan was crafty to see only the words, "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Take the yoke upon you and learn from me, and your hearts will be at rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” This is to block the way to become a child of God by preventing you from being united with Christ. This is to block the truth of the written word, “He that is united to the Lord is one spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:17).
But Satan is a spirit that works only in the sons of disobedience, which is of the world, and cannot lead to temptation or to fall into evil with those who are not of the world, that is, those who are in Christ Jesus. For those whom God foreknew have set free “the law of the Spirit of life, which is in Christ Jesus, from the law of sin and death.”
Therefore, those of Christ Jesus are set free from the law of sin and death, and come under the law of the ordinance of life while sojourners in the world. As the word of evidence says, “For those who do not have the law, I am not without the law to God, but as those who are under the law of Christ and without the law, that I might gain them that do not have the law.” We become “under the law of Christ” and abide with Christ in God.
The Bible calls the law of the Spirit of life the law of God. It is written, “I delight in the law of God in my inner man” (Romans 7:22), and “I will give thanks to God through our Lord Jesus Christ. I serve the law of righteousness” (Romans 7:25).
The law is the “law of death” given through Moses, and grace and truth are the “law of life” that came through Christ. Disobedience (flesh) works under the law of death, and obedience (spirit) works under the law of life. As it is written, “The mind set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it do so” (Romans 8:7).
The Bible speaks of the law of the Spirit of life as “the infinite power of life.” As it is written, “He did not follow the law of commandments pertaining to the flesh, but according to the power of infinite life” (Hebrews 7:16).
In Christ, the Mediator of the new covenant, there must be a new law and a new commandment. The Bible calls the new law “the law of faith” and the new commandment “his commandments.” As it is written, Christ, the firstfruits, said, "As I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love, so if you keep my commandments, ye will abide in my love" (John 15:10). Love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:34).
Regarding this, the Bible says, “By this we will know that we know him, if we keep his commandments” (1 John 2:3), and “He who says, “I know him,” and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is in him. not” (1 John 2:4) and “this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another as he has given us. He who keeps his commandments abides in the Lord, and the Lord in him. He dwells in us, and we know that he abides in us by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us” (1 John 3:23-24).
Therefore, the children of God who have now obtained Christ are servants of righteousness under the yoke of Christ, “the law of faith.” It is written, “Do you not know that to whomever you present yourselves as slaves to obey, you are slaves to the one whom you obey? Or, the slavery of sin leads to death, and the slavery of obedience leads to righteousness” (Romans 6:16). ) is the same thing.
Faith is obedience, and this obedience can keep the law of the Spirit of life. This is the end of faith and that is “the salvation of the soul.” There is no obedience in the way that follows the flesh, but there is obedience in the way that follows the Spirit. This is because the old man of disobedience by faith was crucified with Christ and died. Therefore, no longer I (the flesh) live, but Christ (the Spirit) lives in me, so I am no longer in the flesh, but in the spirit. Therefore, we are now people of Christ Jesus. According to the Father's will, let us also give eternal praise to our Lord Jesus Christ, who made us walk with him in new life, “not according to the law of commandments pertaining to the flesh, but according to the power of infinite life.” Lord! Thank you.
“If you live according to the flesh (by the law of sin and death) you will surely die, but if you put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit (by the law of the Spirit of life) you will live…” Amen.
