Title: How to Read the Bible

Contents

Bible: Psalm 119:18

Open my eyes to see the marvels of your law

There are three types of eyes. It is said that there is a naked eye to see things, a prosthetic eye just like Stevenson invented the steam locomotive, and a spiritual eye to see heaven.

Here in the Bible, the eye speaks of a mysterious person who can see heaven, that is, the spiritual eye

We all have spiritual eyes as believers in Jesus.

I am living every day looking at heaven that cannot be seen with the naked eye.

“Your law” in the text refers to the Bible, that is, the Bible.

Let me see strange things, he says. The Bible is a marvelous book. God has a purpose for giving us the Bible. Its purpose is recorded in John 20:31

But these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He is the Christ, and that by believing in His name you may have eternal life through His name.

If you see that John, who wrote the Gospel of John, wrote this at the end, we know that he was talking about the purpose of writing the Gospel of John. However, this verse may serve as the purpose of writing the entire Bible.

The Bible was given to us for three main purposes. 1) Jesus becomes the Son of God. 2) Jesus is the Christ. 3) Through his name we have eternal life. That is, through this Bible, Jesus is the Son of God and the Christ, and this Bible has been given to us for this purpose, that we may have eternal life through the name of Jesus.

However, it is a book that gives us various ideas beyond the level of salvation by reading the Bible.

The purpose of reading the Bible even for non-believers is that the Bible is a literary book, and many ideas come from it. There are many examples, but a man named Simpson in England made a great invention while reading the Bible. Genesis 2:21-22 (The Lord God put Adam into a deep sleep, and when he slept, he took one of his ribs and filled it with flesh. The Lord God made a woman from the rib that he had taken from Adam, and brought her to Adam.

Simpson discovered the anesthetic called chloroform in 1847 after he was told that by putting Adam into a deep sleep, he painlessly took one rib and created his wife.

The Bible is the book that gives us salvation, principles and guidance

Then you should know how to read the Bible

1. The Bible should be read prayerfully

You have to open your eyes to see marvels, and pray to open your eyes.

Timothy 4:5 says that we are sanctified by the word of God and prayer. Before we read the Word of God, we must pray and open the Word of God. Without prayer, we cannot properly understand God's Word. So I hope you will read the Bible in prayer.

2. Take notes of the Bible you read or underline the Bible

You can learn more about what you read by taking notes or underlining important things. Don't feel bad about getting the Bible dirty, just underline or take notes.

3. Please read carefully

In some cases, you should read extensively, but you should avoid overeating even when eating meat.

Rather than reading 100 books at a time in one sitting and not reading the Bible for several months.

Whether longevity or small life, it is necessary to read the Bible every day. One chapter, one half chapter, one chapter is fine, so it is better to do that. Reformed churches in the Netherlands read the Bible every verse before eating.

4. Ask questions as you read the Bible

What is the main topic of the chapter in the verse of the Bible you are reading? Who is specified? What is the point of the verse? What is your relationship with Jesus Christ? What do I have to confess? What should I throw away? What do I have to obey? What lessons should I follow? What is the subject of the prayer?

Please read the Bible as you search for these questions.

5. Keep a spiritual diary

God's Word has spiritual lessons for us. If you have to work hard to find God's spiritual lessons, you should try to apply them in your life when you find them.

God's Word is not the Word and my life is not a dichotomy. We need to unify this. For example, in John 4, Jesus is compared to living water. In chapter 6, the parable of the bread of life is given. The Gospel of John is all important, but chapters 4 and 6 are important. Just as our body must drink to live and eat to live, so our soul must eat and drink. Chapters 4 and 6 are important to teach that the food of the spirit is Jesus. If we relate the word of God to Jesus and apply it to us, we can receive a greater lesson.

6. Please memorize more bibles

is to memorize. If you memorize many verses of the Bible, it is a great help in our lives. And it's a great help to savor on a regular basis In the old days, people who were imprisoned for shrine worship could not read the Bible, so they lived a life of faith while savoring and singing Bible verses and hymns that they had memorized

7. We must obey the Word

You must bring the words stored in your head down to your heart. So the chest must be on fire. And the fire must not remain as it is, and the fire must spread to the arms and legs and appear in real life.

8. Must read aloud

Reading aloud is more effective than just reading with your eyes. In the old days, when I was learning Chinese in a Seodang, I memorized it out loud. Chinese people learn English more effectively because they read aloud when learning English.

Please familiarize yourself with the above 8 methods and practice them.
