Title: Human Quest (1 Kings 21:1-16)
Contents 1. Outline of the text
Ahab was a rebellious king who was immoral before God and served idols. He is the king who deserves punishment. He tormented Elijah and committed many sins against God in order to listen to his wife. Now the time has come for God to punish him. In verses 1-16, he was led by his own lust and sinned against God. From 17-26 he is warned through Elijah what punishment he will receive. Therefore, it is appropriate to set the unit of the text up to 16 verses.
The modern-language Bible is more specific and has been translated in detail.
1. Ahab, who had already been sentenced to death by God, coveted other people's land, killed people, and even ruined his own family. King Ahab of Samaria had a summer residence in the Valley of Jezreel. There was a vineyard right next to this villa, and its owner was Naboth, who lived in the valley.
2. One day the king went to Naboth and said, “Give me the vineyard! The vineyard is right next to my villa, so it would be perfect for me to use it as a vegetable garden. In return, I'll give you a better vineyard, or if you want money, I'll give you a generous price."
3. But Naboth refused. “This is a land passed down from generation to generation by our ancestors, and there are tombs for our ancestors, so I cannot do what I want. Because Jehovah forbids them.”
4. When Naboth refused in this way, Ahab was offended and returned to the palace in anger. Then he lay down, turned his face, and ate nothing.
5. Ahab's wife Jezebel entered the room and asked the king. “What is this? Is there some kind of worry that I can’t eat?” Ahab answered. “I told Naboth the Jezreelite many times that he should sell his vineyard or trade it for another field. Yet he perseveres to the end.” Then Jezebel promised. “Is the king worried about such a thing? Now, don’t worry, get up and enjoy your meal. Naboth's vineyard, I will use my own hands to return it to the king.”6. Jezebel wrote a letter in the name of King Ahab, sealed it with a seal, and sent it to the elders and influential people living in the city of Jezreel.
7. The contents of the letter were as follows.
8. Declare one day of fasting and penitence! Gather the inhabitants in one place, and Naboth
sit in the front
9. Have two unscrupulous people sit in front of him and testify like this. Naboth cursed God and the king. Then lead Naboth out of the gate and stone him to death.'
10. The elders and powerful men of Jezreel did as Jezebel instructed.

1. They proclaimed a day of penance to the inhabitants and placed Naboth in the front.

2. Two gangsters were sitting in front of him, then got up and pointed at Naboth, and in a voice with a vicious voice, testified: “Naboth has cursed God and the king.” Then the men dragged Naboth out of the gate and stoned him to death.

3. The elders of the city of Jezreel immediately reported to Jezebel. "Naboth was stoned to death."

4. When Jezebel heard the news, she said to Ahab. "Now that Naboth's vineyard is yours, get up and possess it. Naboth, who refused to sell the field to the king, is already dead."

5. When he heard that Naboth was dead, Ahab got up and went down to take possession of the vineyard.
3. Topic: Human Greed and Conspiracy
4. Sermon Outline
The sermon should always be consistent with the central content of the text. The purpose of this text is to testify progressively how God judges unrighteous humans. There are three main characters here. Representative figures who are driven by greed and unable to control themselves - Naboth, who believes in Ahab and God as the only god - and Satan's servant, Jezebel, a descendant of a fallen angel. Ultimately, modern people belong to one of these three types.
The purpose of verses 1-16 is what kind of judgment God makes on the wicked. Therefore, an interesting sermon composition is possible if the sermon is focused on three types of people and what kind of person we should be as the purpose of the sermon.
Introduction
1. There is an old saying that a dog with poop is a dog with chaff. This means that most people are more inclined to point out the faults of others than their own. In other words, that person is bad, but I am not.
2. What kind of person do I consider myself a good person or a bad person?
3. The Bible analyzes people into three types. The text depicts three different people.
I. There are people who live only for themselves (1-2).
A. Ahab is an ordinary form of the natural person.
1. A vineyard next to his villa stood out.
2. I wanted to own it anyway.
1) He had the power to possess if he wanted to.
2) Of course, there was plenty of money.
3. However, the problem is that he did not give up his evil attitude to go against the rules.
B. Ahab's appearance is that of a modern man.
1. What is discovered through the eye has a strong desire to possess it, even when not absolutely necessary.
2. I give up thinking about why I need it. And because someone else has it, I must have it too, or I know that I need it to stand out.
3. There is no end to the challenge of ownership. In the end, they fall into slavery to greed.
4. We do not choose any means and methods to achieve our goals. In other words, it rejects the idea that what cannot be done in the right way may not be God's will.
5. If there are similarities with these thoughts, I need to check my spiritual state.
II. There are those who live captivated by the Word (3-4).
A. Naboth was a servant of God.
1. Rather than his own thoughts or wisdom, he took the word of God as the basis of his life and philosophy.
2. Even though Ahab was king, he refused because he judged that he was making a request contrary to God's will.
3. If he was to match the parable of the king, he would have been able to give it away for free.
dedicated.)
4. Regardless of the passage of time, he was a bit of a savvy person who lived by protecting himself.
B. The standard of living of saints is only the Word of God.
1. Had Naboth been ignorant, he would have given it to the king or sold it for money. But he knew the word of God.
2. Knowledge is power. Faith also requires knowledge to have accurate and correct beliefs.
3. If we are ignorant of God's Word, we can unintentionally disobey God's Word.
4. To believe is to know, and to practice what you know. Only with right faith can you expect a right life.
III. There are those who live as servants of Satan (5-16).
A. Jezebel is Satan's representative.
1. His thoughts were only cunning.
2. He tried to separate people as much as possible.
1) In verse 5, he asked, “What kind of trouble is it?” As a wife, it may be a natural word for a husband.
2) However, a virtuous wife should be a helper to correct her husband's wrong thoughts.
3) However, rather than her husband, she was planning a high-level evil tactic. Verses 8-14 show how wicked he is.
3. If you thought that Jezebel was the biggest helper for your husband's life, you would be greatly mistaken. She was a servant of Satan who ruined her husband.
4. Jezebel took on the role of the greatest contributor to the destruction of her husband, Ahab, who belongs to evil, as directed by Satan.
B. You need the gift of discerning spirits.
1. Modern people who blindly seek success are too dangerous people.
2. Satan knows human needs better than anyone. You know very well what you need.
1) Approach those who need money in the easiest way to get money.
2) Approach those who cannot control their lust as a beautiful lover.
3) We have so many weaknesses, such as honor and power, but Satan knows them all.
Appropriate exemplification-
3. If a person does not follow the rules and tries to live only with his head, he will fall into a subordinate of Satan like Jezebel.
1) A believer should not try any solution other than prayer, no matter what, no matter what the goal.
2) No matter how close your wife, brother, or friend may be, it should not take precedence over the resolution of prayer.
3) Satan's proposals are always logical and reasonable. That is why smart modern people are deceived by themselves.
4) We have the secret to discern Satan's schemes. Satan's thinking has the weakness of not respecting life. They don't try to reconcile each other, they try to destroy each other anyway.
conclusion
1. Every person in the world falls under one of three. Ahab was not ignorant of God.
However, he had already disobeyed God's command because he married out of greed, and he made himself a slave to evil.
2. Ahab is the representative of the carnal. Even now, there are a lot of people who say they believe in God but are caught up in their idols.
3. Naboth's life may be a failed life where he was killed by a dog. However, he suffered only an unfair death, that is, a religious death by those who belong to evil. It is undoubtedly martyrdom. Everyone must die anyway. It matters who you die for.
4. Jezebel is just the reality of Satan disguised as a human being. How brilliant his brain is, it is not a human head. It's such an excellent idea. That's why we don't say "like a ghost" excels
5. Who to live for and how to live It is good to achieve goals, but you should not live without choosing any means and methods. You shouldn't treat your life like that. That's why the Bible says, "Do not neglect this great salvation." If it is not the method and guidance of the Holy Spirit, you must firmly reject it. 6. Satan's method is too subtle. So it is difficult to distinguish. However, saints can be distinguished any number of times. always stay awake
