Title: I am a useless servant
Content: I am a useless servant (Luke 17:7-10)
If you have a big castle, you need a lot of workers. We need people who cook, people who do the laundry, people who manage finances, and people who make the castle happy. Our church also has many members. But there are too few workers to serve the saints. So today we select workers who will make the church happy. Then, who should be appointed as the elders of Seomun Church?
<First> We must raise elders who serve well, not those who rule.
“For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45).
In Judges 9, the trees in the forest gathered to set up a king, but the olive trees and fig vines knew their fountain and politely declined. But the thorn tree said that I would become the king.
The thorns have no fruit, no oil, and no broad leaves to block the sun. Rather, it is a worthless tree that pierces with sharp thorns, causing scarring and only harming the surroundings. A person like a thorn can never be a leader who harms others. Jesus said, "Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be slave of all."
I was only doing what I was supposed to as a useless servant, so I need to raise a humble elder who can serve the saints well.
<Second> We need to build elders like stepping stones and stone bridges.
When crossing a creek, if the creek is too wide, place a large boulder and step on it to safely cross the creek. An elder must be a stone bridge to lead God's people to heaven. An elder must sacrifice himself and become a spiritual stepping stone that leads the saints to heaven. It was impossible to get electricity from Sorokdo to Geumdang because it was too far away. However, in the middle of that deserted sea, there was a small uninhabited island called Jungangdo Island, which was uninhabitable. Without this little lonely island, the people of Geumdang would still have no electricity. The workers of the West Gate Church become the corner stone and tread on me. You must be a person who can see with joy that others are built up by your giving up. A person who confesses that even after doing everything, that I am a useless servant and that I have only done what I had to do, must become a worker elder at Seomun Church.
<Third> We must raise up a spiritual leader who unconditionally answers yes when God speaks.
The 12 representatives spyed out on Canaan and returned to report. Ten people reported negative. But Joshua and Caleb reported that the land we saw was very beautiful, and if God pleased them, they were our food. After spying back for 40 days in Canaan, why did the reports differ so much? The reports of those who reported negatively were not wrong either. This is because 10 people saw the land of Canaan with their natural eyes, but 2 looked at the land of Canaan with their spiritual eyes. 10 The people looked at them with eyes of unbelief. But Joshua and Caleb looked at them with the eyes of faith. Negative people can't Can not. let's go back A person who says this is not worthy as an elder of Seomun Church. If Jehovah God pleases them, people of active, positive and creative faith who cry out that they are our food should become the elders of Seomun Church.
<Conclusion> Today, we are going to raise workers for Seomun Church. Who should I build?
We need to raise people who enjoy serving others, not those who rule over others and do not like to be treated.
We need to build humble people such as stepping stones and stone bridges that lead the saints to heaven.
We need to establish an active, positive spiritual leader who can answer yes whenever God wants us to. Our church needs a lot of workers. I hope it will be a day when many workers are raised by faith.
