Title: I am Joseph (Genesis 45:3)
Contents Joseph tested the hearts of his brothers several times from various angles, but when he found out that they had truly repented, he could not contain his feelings, so he defeated the people around him, revealed his identity, and cried out loudly.
1. I am the Joseph whom you sold.
When my brothers suddenly said that I was Joseph as the prime minister, I was so bewildered that I couldn't even tell if it was a dream or real life, and I was in a state of shock.
Joseph said to his brothers, I am Joseph. Is my father still alive... I am the Joseph you sold to Egypt. Indeed, the brothers apparently sold their younger brother Joseph to Egypt and thought that the history was forever buried in a secret, but they would have never dreamed of meeting them in the land of Egypt ten years from now.
2. I am Joseph who became the prime minister of Egypt.
Then Joseph said, “Do not be troubled and do not lament that you sold me to Egypt, for God sent me before you to save lives.
God sent me before you to preserve your life by a great salvation and to put your descendants into the world; therefore it was not you who sent me here, but God. God made me the father of Pharaoh, the lord of all his household, and the ruler over all the land of Egypt. He reassured his brothers that it was God's will.
3. I am Joseph who welcomes his father-in-law.
Since the famine was still going to continue for five years, Joseph asked him to return to his homeland quickly and move to the land of Egypt (Goshen) with his father, son, and grandchildren to live. He told his father that he was enjoying his glory in Egypt, instructed him to bring him home quickly, and hugged his brother Benjamin's neck and wept as he touched the suppressed feelings of the past. And then the brothers were relieved and talked to Joseph.
Conclusion: Joseph is indeed a shadow of Jesus and a typical figure. He forgave his enemies with love and showed generosity, so he is truly a man of God.
Hebrews 11 introduces the history of the ancestors of faith. Among them, only Joseph is a true believer who cannot find any sinful nature.
