Title: I Come Soon / Revelation 22:6-16
(Explanation of Revelation 56)
I am coming soon / Revelation 22:6-16
We have come to the actual conclusion of the book of Revelation. After the revelation of the kingdom of heaven in (verse 5), and from (verse 6), as the conclusion of the book of Revelation, there is a warning about the church of God. After talking about what kind of place the kingdom is through the inner and outer appearances of the kingdom of heaven expressed in the new heavens and new earth and the new Jerusalem, the book of Revelation concludes in the text. It records the use, use, and circumstances of the end of the book of Revelation without hesitation.
The words “Behold, I am coming quickly” in (verse 7), “Do not seal up the words of the prophecies of this book” in (verse 10), and “Behold, I am coming quickly” in verse 12. My reward is with me, and I will repay each one according to what he has done” deals with the urgency of the coming of the kingdom of heaven connected with the second coming of Jesus. The urgency of Jesus' ministry is the conclusion of the Book of Revelation and the entire Bible. It is a word that makes you think about what era the book of Revelation will be applied to. It can be seen that the book of Revelation that John saw is the eschatological revelation of mankind concerning the timing of the Lord's Second Coming. Although there are contents of that time, they are only talking about the appearance of the church in Rome at the time.
something to happen soon
In (chapter 22) alone, the promise of the Lord's second coming, “I will come soon” appears three times (Revelation 22:7,12,20). If there is one thing that the text emphasizes the most, it is that the second coming of the Lord is near. “Behold, I am coming soon, and blessed is the one who keeps the words of the prophecy of this book.” He has sent his angel to show these servants what is about to happen soon.” The word ‘God of the spirits of the prophets’ means ‘the God who prophesied about promises to the prophets’.
It is that the God who gives the eschatological revelation to John is not someone else, but the God who has promised that the Lord will return through the prophets from ancient times. The words of God's prophecies that were delivered in such a way are emphasized with the words, “These words are faithful and true.” This revelation to John was not of a nature to delay. “It will never happen soon,” he says. The Lord is coming soon.
However, we need to look at the word that the Lord is coming soon from two perspectives. First, it is the time of the Lord's return. There is nothing in the Bible that reveals the Lord's Second Coming for a limited time. Neither the son nor the angels. Always, the Bible does not speak of a time-limited end, but reveals a sign period. If there are signs of this or that, it means that the Lord is near.
The eschatological revelations prophesied in the book of Revelation and Daniel are all about omen. Here, the time is near, and the words I say that I will come soon are based on the time when the signs of the end will be fulfilled, and since we do not know the time, we must always look forward to the time and prepare for the Lord's second coming. (Verse 6) “Never soon”, (Verse 7) “You are coming soon”, (Verse 10) “The hour is near”, (Verse 12) “I am coming soon”, (Verse 20) “Truly I All expressions such as “it will come soon” are omens of times. These words should not be taken as an end-of-life argument.
Second, it is an expression of alertness to the religious life of the saints. The words of prophecy revealed in the Book of Revelation mean that we need to be awake, realizing that the time will soon come. We do not know when, but we must prepare for that day, bearing in mind that it will surely come. The Lord who promised to come again will surely come again. Also, the Lord wants us to wait for His return. That is why I am giving you these words. Now is the time. You must be a prepared saint.
the words of this prophecy
Jesus solemnly warns all who will read this book, saying, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecies of this book." The reason is that the time is near. The ‘words of this book’ (22:6, 10, 18, 19, 1:3) are written revelations and prophecies. Of course, you can also look at the book of Revelation itself. The prophecies of the end times have a time to seal and a time to open them. After God gave Daniel an eschatological revelation and vision, he said, “Daniel, keep this writing until the time of the end and seal it up” (Daniel 12:4). When he gave Daniel the revelation about the end times, he was told to seal it because it was not given to the Jews at that time. When we come to the last point of the end of mankind, then we will realize.
By commanding John not to seal, Jesus makes it clear that this is what he is telling us now. These words of revelation were given for the purpose of alarming our faith to give hope to all generations and greatly benefiting our lives of faith. These words must be read, heard and kept. This word is known, known, and to be known. These words should not be added (22:18). This word itself is perfect.
John misunderstood the angel who spoke of God's perfect revelation and tried to worship him. So, dry John. “It is I, John, who has seen and heard these things. When I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things, and he said to me, I am a servant with you and your brothers the prophets and those who keep the words of this book. Do not do this, but worship God.” (8:9) It tells us that it is not men or angels who will be worshiped, but God. Through John's mistake, God is pointing out the weakness of human beings who unconditionally worship the good things that are unfolding before us.
(Verse 11) The Word is not easy to interpret. “Let the one who does iniquity continue to do unrighteousness, and let the one who is unclean continue to be unclean, and the one who is righteous will continue to practice righteousness, and the one who is holy may still be holy.” Here, the interpretation that there is no opportunity for repentance at this time is not very desirable. This is because the text does not talk about life in heaven, but rather the whole of Revelation and the conclusion of the Bible. Rather, it is a message calling for repentance now.
reward and punishment
“Blessed are those who wash the robes” (14). The 'romagi' symbolizes the clothes of righteousness worn by the saints. This is the robe that must be worn at the wedding feast (Matthew 22:11-14). We can get these clothes dirty. But the soiled clothes must be washed. It is a message that urges us to repent through faith in the merits of the blood of the Lord. (16) He says, “I, Jesus, have sent my messenger to testify of these things to you.” Thus, the book of Revelation is a revelation that Jesus clearly revealed to John for us.
“Behold, I am coming soon, and my reward is with me, to repay each one according to what he has done” (12), which means that our lives are the object of reward. Also, “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have authority to come to the tree of life and to enter the city through the gates” (14). . The opposite is also obvious. “Dogs, and sorcerers, and fornicators, and murderers, and idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes up lies will be outside the city” (15). The person who makes this clear distinction is Jesus, who is the root and descendant of David, and is symbolized by the bright Saebyeol.
Dear saints!
The Lord is coming soon. You must be a saint who clearly reads, listens to, and keeps the word of the Lord and prepares for that day. How specifically should we keep the Word? You must restore your first love. We must bear good fruit through love for the Lord. You must have spiritual eyes to distinguish the antichrist and be on God's side only. We must be on guard against the elements of Satan that may arise under the name of the church. We must draw close to God's Word and obey its principles. Don't forget the Lord is coming soon!!
