Title: I Hear You
Content Title: I Heart You
Bible: 2 Kings 22:15-20
For those of us who believe in God, there is something we must hear. It is God's answer to 'I have heard your prayer'. In verse 19, God spoke to King Josiah through the prophetess “Hulda”. "I have heard you" I heard you too! This is an amazing statement that Josiah's prayer was answered by God.
I pray that we too will hear the wonderful voice of God.
First: He does according to the word (covenant).
“I will bring calamity on this place and on its inhabitants, says the LORD, according to all the words of the book that the king of Judah has read” (verse 16). “As soon as the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes” (verse 11). ) King Josiah could not stand still before the word of God. He knew that he had to tear his splendid robe and cry out before God at the majestic word of God. He immediately sent a man to Huldah, the prophetess, to inquire of God what the future of the kingdom of Judah would be, which had already committed a great sin. This is the figure of King Josiah who absolutely obeyed the Word and the figure of the king who surrendered to the absolute power of God. He knew how to heed the warnings of the Word.
Second: He promises eternal life.
“Therefore I will bring you back to your ancestors and bring you into the tomb in peace” (verse 20). We are absolutely the promised children of God. They are the people of God for whom the covenant of life has been fulfilled. Therefore, I hope that you will always believe and pray for that promise. God always embraces His people, promises eternal life, and leads them until they reach that kingdom.
Third: We do not encounter disasters during our lifetime.
“You will not see all the calamity that I will bring here” (verse 20). King Josiah became king of the southern kingdom of Judah when he was only eight years old. It was a daunting and impossible task for an eight-year-old child to rule a country. Moreover, the kingdom of Judah at that time had already fallen to an irreparable level. The northern kingdom of Israel has long since been destroyed. The hands of Egypt, a powerful power in the south, and Babylon, a powerful power in the northeast, were threatening Judah. He couldn't help but pray for the future of his country. He didn't just pray for himself. He prayed for the whole country. To Josiah like this, God promised that during the days of Josiah there would be no destruction of Israel or a miserable appearance of himself.
