Title: I Hide Because I Was Afraid

Contents

The reason life does not change even if you live a long life of faith is because you live according to the principles and desires of the old people. Because we live according to the principles and desires of the old people, we are faced with a life full of complaints and frustration. The image of the old man that began in Adam dominates our lives today and prevents us from living as children of God. Through today's text, let's look at how Adam and Eve's lives changed by eating the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

First, after choosing the forbidden fruit, they departed from the life of God.

The tree of good and evil seemed so coveted and beautiful to Adam and Eve. But as soon as they ate of the forbidden fruit, they realized that they were naked and covered themselves with fig leaves. And they hid themselves among the trees of the garden, from the presence of the LORD. The moment they chose the forbidden fruit, their spiritual fellowship with God was cut off. The most serious punishment for a Christian is the loss of spiritual fellowship. Man was originally created to have fellowship with God. However, he lost the great privilege of fellowship with God and became entangled in his own life. David also suffered from losing his close fellowship with God after he sinned (Psalm 51:11). Even Christians, when their fellowship with God is cut off, they are bound to experience spiritual stagnation just like Adam and Eve lost their fellowship with God. Therefore, we must build our lives and faith by the Spirit of life, not our thoughts and judgments.

Second, when we picked the tree of good and evil, we were bound by the judgment of the flesh.

Whenever Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, their eyes were opened. The knowledge to distinguish good and evil came in, and it became a being that had to judge good and evil. Inevitably, the wrong things caught my eye first, so even if we tried not to see each other's faults, we became people who had no choice but to see. In the abundance of Eden, we did not experience the abundant life of God, and we lived a life without contentions and complaints and gratitude. They lost their fellowship with God and lost the blessings of Eden in the spiritual stagnation. When God asked why he had parted from the forbidden fruit, Adam blamed the woman and the woman blamed the serpent. Rather than establishing judgment of good and evil, we should build virtue. I hope that you will be edified in faith and obedient to life.

Third, when we ate the forbidden fruit, the life of thorns and thistles began.

After eating the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve lost all their spiritual blessings. But that was not the end of it, and they were cast out of Eden, the land of abundance and life. We have no choice but to wander and wander in the cursed land. Deuteronomy 28 records God's retribution for obedience and disobedience. What is common in the lives of obedience and disobedience is that when we obey, God blesses the bowl of dough, and when we disobey, He curses the bowl of dough. When Adam ate of the forbidden fruit, the earth withered, famine and drought abounded, and thorns and thistles sprouted, leading to a life of toil and suffering. In the end, Adam and Eve's choice not only lost their spiritual blessings, but their lives were blocked from the blessings of this world.

The result of all these lives was that Adam and Eve ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. I hope that our lives can be freed from the life of picking the tree of knowledge. I bless you that it is not a life of distinguishing good from evil and judging it, but a life of experiencing the righteousness of God and obeying the law of life of the Holy Spirit.
