Title: I Love You / Matthew 20:20-28

Can you drink the cup I am about to drink?” They said, “You can do it.” 23 He said, “Are you sure you will drink my cup, but sitting at my left and right? I do not give it, but for whom my Father prepared it, they will receive it. 24 When the ten heard it, they were angry with the two brothers. 25 Jesus called his disciples and said to them, "The rulers of the Gentiles have arbitrariness over them, and their princes 26 But it must not be so among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, 27 whoever wishes to be first among you must be your servant. 28 The Son of Man comes to serve. not to receive a favor, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.

It's a very cold winter in 1865, a snowstorm. A woman was passing a hill in what is called South Wales, England. He is without a husband and is carrying a young child with him, but he gets lost on the way. I was shivering in the cold, and this mother died because I couldn't shiver. After the blizzard was over, people found this woman sitting and dead. But what is surprising is that the woman is naked. In order to save the child he was holding, he kept taking off his clothes one by one and wrapped them around the child. But the mother is dead, but the child is alive. This child was brought up by a good person, and this child grew up to become Prime Minister of England in 1916. The Prime Minister is named David Lloyd George. He grew up listening to this mother's story from an early age. My mother said that she died for me, that she died for me and that she died naked. He was moved by his passionate love and lived his whole life without parents, but he becomes a great leader.
Someone made this song. “You were born to be loved.” This is about us Christians. We sang that we received great love from the Lord and continue to be loved.
What kind of love do we receive from the Lord? Let's take a look.
One day, one of the mothers of the disciples of Jesus caused a riot. Skirt winds are not only present now, but also existed in the days of Jesus. Of the 12 disciples, James and John are brothers, but isn't their mother bowing down to Jesus and asking for a seat? Just as all mothers want their children to prosper, these mothers were no different from other mothers. He asked Jesus to give his children a good seat, one on the right and one on the left when Jesus became king.
Hearing this, the other disciples could not stand still. Isn't he so angry and tearing up his eyes and staring at the two disciples! Everyone likes high places. Because if you are in a high position, you are served! How good is it when a person is served? People come, crawling, pretending to open the car door, 'Get on', 'Get off', 'Today, I'll take you to the best restaurant.' How good it feels!
But Jesus is telling you not to do something that we all like so much. The Christian life is not saying that such a thing is good, but rather the opposite.
The structure of the world is that the high are served and the lowly are served, but the structure of those who believe in Jesus Christ is on the contrary, the one who is served is the lowly one, and the one who serves is the high one.
Isn't he teaching that if you want to be a high person, you have to be a servant, and if you want to be great or first, you have to be a servant?
Take a closer look at why the world is so chaotic.
Why does the high ignore the lowly and pressure them not to serve them better, and why should the lowly serve the same human beings, who should be served and who should be served? While you are grinding your teeth, envy and hatred arise; if you compete to be higher, then quarrels arise; There cannot be high and low in the world for people to live. Without this, order will be broken and you will be in great chaos. The communist theory failed to achieve a utopia in this land by abolishing this class society, that is, by eliminating the bourgeoisie (the bourgeoisie) and making the proletariat (modern working class) the subject of revolution. The theory was plausible, but it was never put into practice.
When Jesus came to this earth, he did not start a movement to abolish class society and abolish capitalist classes, but rather acknowledge them as they are and emphasize the principle of service, so that order and peace can be maintained together.
Do you know why it's good to have people who believe in Jesus? Why is being evangelized the secret to living well?
The high will serve the lowly with love, and the lowly will love, respect, and serve the high more. because of.
Jesus put this into practice, so that we can live a life of service.
Jesus is Lord of lords, and as King of kings, He deserves to be served by all things and by all people, but when He came to this earth, He considered serving people the best.
Jesus says: “For the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many” (28).
Jesus' passion for serving us was beyond imagination. If it was for us, he endured hardship, ridicule, persecution, and suffering, and did not waste his life.
You may have read the Gospels. You must have read the torment Jesus was going through.
The Roman soldiers put a red cloth on Jesus and made fun of him by playing king games. Stroke the cheek with the palm of your hand. beat with a whip. A crown made of thorns is placed on the head, which is called a crown, and the forehead bursts and blood flows. was nailed to the cross. I stabbed him in the side with a spear. People passing by mock him. endured. I gritted my teeth and endured it.
Why did you put up with it?
Because the mission of Jesus came to serve us. Because he made up his mind to take any pain if it worked out for us. He was determined to be immortal even in death.
Serving was his mission! Because he wanted us to have eternal life and to do well! And I hoped that such a life of service would be achieved on this earth, and that true peace would be achieved on this earth, so that we could all live well!
As I conclude my sermon, I tell you that Jesus lived a life of service, so you should also live a life of service. I won't say There are things to do before you live a life of service. What is it? It is to love the Lord who served me passionately. I love the Lord who gave his life to serve me.
If you do not have a heart to love the Lord, you cannot follow the path of serving the Lord.
We can never practice a life of service with a sense of duty to live a life of service as we believe in Jesus. Since I was little, I have been taught that 'you have to serve the pastor well.' Not when you are annoyed. Everyone! Love the Lord before serving as a pastor. Love the Lord before serving your neighbor.
David Lloyd George, whom I mentioned at the beginning, was able to become Prime Minister of England because he realized his mother's love and had a heart to love her. Since my mother suffered like that, if I had lived with a sense of duty to be good, I might have collapsed from exhaustion. He was able to love everyone because he loved his mother, and because he lived his life with that love, he was able to rise to the prime minister's position. It was possible because he loved his mother, who died naked in the cold for him.
First love the Lord, who served me with ridicule, mockery, whip, stab, and death. The Lord is with us now.
