Title: I Want to Live!
1. Introduction
God has given man the spiritual longing for eternity (Ecclesiastes 3:11) and the will to life to live physically. This woman, who suffered from bleeding for 12 years in the text, shows very clearly what the will to live is. <I Want to Live!> intends to share the grace of this woman while meditating on her will and faith in life.
2. The story of a woman suffering from bleeding for 12 years
This is the woman's story. The woman had been bleeding for 12 years. Leviticus 15 contains the regulations for the sick who leaked. It is specifically stated that all of the leaked patients are unclean. Leakage disease is considered to be a type of sexually transmitted disease such as gonorrhea and syphilis. Therefore, all objects used by the leaker are unclean, such as chairs, beds, dishes, clothes, and saddles. Leaked diseases are recognized as highly contagious and are prohibited from entering the community.
This woman has been stigmatized as an unclean woman for 12 years and has been neglected by many people. This woman spent all the money she had to cure the disease, but the disease did not get better, and the disease got worse. All the money ran out. There was no more hope for this woman. Her body was getting weaker and weaker, she had no money, she was ostracized, and this woman was living in despair.
Then one day this woman heard a rumor about Jesus. I heard rumors that He cast out demons and healed the blind from birth. This woman, who had collapsed in despair, had a new hope. This woman was waiting for Jesus. The only hope left for this woman was Jesus.
Finally the day has come. That Jesus, who had been waiting so long, came to the town where the woman lived. The woman ran away. Too many people surrounded Jesus. However, as a woman suffering from an embarrassing sexually transmitted disease, she could not call on Jesus directly. If the woman had said in a loud voice like Bartimaeus, “Lord, have mercy on me,” Jesus would have called her. The woman's illness was a shameful leak, gonorrhea, syphilis, and a sexually transmitted disease that could not be disclosed in front of many people, so she could not call Jesus directly.
I couldn't give up either. The woman firmly believed that if I touched the hem of Jesus' robe, His power would come to me and heal me. The woman broke through many people. And secretly, secretly, secretly, carefully, carefully, carefully, without anyone knowing, the woman touched the hem of Jesus' robe.
At that moment, oh oh, amazing hand! The dirty spillage that flowed inside the woman, the 12 years of chronic illness, and the terrible disease had completely disappeared. That would be better! Ah, thank you, ah, I am happy, ah, so so so so good! The moment she confirmed this with her body, she was rather afraid and trembling.
3. Who touched my clothes? Jesus asking
Jesus immediately knew that power had gone out of his body, so he looked around and asked. Who touched my clothes? The disciples are ignorant. Lord, don't you see these many pushing and pulling? But Jesus looked around to see to whom his power had gone.
She had a gut feeling that she couldn't hide it. The woman recounted what had happened to her in the words of that Rudolf Otto, The Numinous in the face of holiness. Upon hearing the woman's confession, Jesus blessed her with just one word, <Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace and be healed of your illness!>
4. What is the message of the text?
first. don't give up
Everyone wants to live. A person who is seriously ill wants to live no matter what. But as the days get longer and longer, they begin to become disappointed and desperate. And you say you can't do it and give up on yourself. That's what most people do. But this woman was different. After spending all the money she had, there was no chance of doing anything more, but this woman never gave up her hope of <I want to live!>
second. Faith works miracles.
Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. What did Jesus say? <Daughter, your faith has saved you!> Faith works miracles. The woman was full of faith in Jesus. That belief has become a reality.
third. Jesus is the source of power.
Any expensive electronic product is scrap metal if it is not connected to electrical energy. Jesus is the vine and we are the branches. When you are attached to Jesus, the power of life begins to move. Jesus is the source of all miracles.
