Title: I Will Bless You and Bless You
Contents
20090621 I will surely bless you and bless you (Hebrews 6:13-15)
Verse 14 says, “…I will bless you and bless you, and I will multiply you and multiply you…”
Blessings and prosperity here mean God's great blessings.
And the word that he will bless and bless, prosper and prosper means that God's blessings are endless.
God will continue to bless those whom you have truly blessed. He will bless you until you reach full blessings.
There are several words for 'blessing' here, among which is the word 'paraq', which means kneeling down to God.
And there is the word 'Yasher', which means 'to go right' or 'to set up straight'.
And there is the word 'yatab', which means 'pleasant', 'good', 'happy'.
In other words, 'blessing' is to kneel in front of God according to God's request (worship life), walk the path of truth while looking only at Him (sanctification life), and please Him (the purpose of the religious life).
This blessing has been fulfilled through Jesus.
Genesis 22:18 says, "And through your offspring all peoples under the heavens will be blessed...".
The 'seed' here means Jesus Christ. That is, we have the blessing of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Salvation from sin, salvation from disease, and salvation from eternal death are in Jesus.
And the blessing of 'prosperity' contains material aspects and blessings for descendants.
This is the blessing that everything goes well through faith in Jesus. It is said that the workplace you attend is prosperous, and the business you run is prosperous.
God wants to bless us. In verse 14 of the text, he says, "I will surely bless you and bless you, and I will multiply you and multiply you." I pray that these blessings will come to many saints.
The same words as the text are mentioned in Genesis 22:17 (“I will bless you greatly, and I will make your offspring great, and I will make you like the stars in the sky and like the sand on the seashore, and your offspring will inherit the gates of their enemies”). The seed in "with your offspring" means biological prosperity, and today's text speaks not only of growth, but also of prosperous offspring.
God promises blessings for his descendants. He promises that his descendants will never cease to multiply.
Jesus too
[Mark 10:29-30] Jesus said to them, "Truly, I say to you, he who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the sake of the gospel, is in no time at all, but houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children. There is no one who will not receive a hundred times as much money and lands, but with persecution, and will not receive eternal life in the age to come. Reality is very important to us. But more important is the afterlife. You want to be blessed both now and in the life to come.
Then who can receive that blessing?
1. Those who have received the promise can receive blessings.
It refers to a person who was chosen by God and received God's promise. There are many promises made between God and man in the Bible. God made a promise to Abraham. Because of that, he became the father of faith. He also made a covenant with Adam and gave Noah the sign of the covenant when he decided to judge the world by water.
[Galatians 3:29] If ye belong to Christ, ye are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
[Galatians 3:14] That the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, and that we might receive the promise of the Holy Spirit through faith.
Please own the blessings of these precious promises as mine.
Those who have the assurance of salvation.
[Romans 8:38] For I am convinced that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
2. Those who are patient can be blessed.
Today's generation is the era of instant explosions. The demand for speed in everything has become a habit, and you want quick conclusions. For those who have become accustomed to such a life, it is indeed difficult to be patient. But whatever it is, you have to be able to wait until the time is right. Even grains and fruits can bear fruit only after a set period and time.
Everyone! Abraham was 75 years old when the blessing was promised. (Genesis 12:4b) It is said that Abraham was 75 years old when he left Haran. Therefore, he waited patiently for at least 25 years of patience until he had a son, Isaac, at the age of 100. That's why today's text (verse 15) also says, "He endured so long and received the promise." Abraham received great blessings as a result of patiently waiting 25 years while holding on to the word that God will surely bless him (verse 14) and obeying it.
One of the characteristics of those who have been blessed is that they have patience and wait patiently. You will have to let go of your impatience. If you do not give up when there is no answer even while praying, but when you endure and persevere to the end, answers and solutions will come, and blessings will come. (Psalm 37:7) says, "Be still before the LORD, and wait patiently; his way may prosper."
The same is true of the religious life. God's blessings come in a timely manner. It does not coincide with human thought or experience, or a desired time. Because God knows our circumstances so well, He responds in the most timely manner and according to the level of faith.
[Hebrews 10:36] You need patience, so that after you have done the will of God you may receive the promise.
We hope that you will learn to be patient and be blessed by God.
3. Those who know how to throw away things can be blessed.
If what I have is wrong and wrong, I have to throw it away. It means that you need the courage to let go of the old things. We believe that God's works and miracles will appear when we put off the old things. Because we are grafted into Jesus Christ, we must completely abandon our old habits and sins. Hebrews 12:1 of the Bible exhorts us to “put off every heavy thing and the sin that so easily entangles us.”
Ephesians 4:22-24 Put off the old self, which is corrupt according to the lusts of deceit, and be renewed in spirit
Put on the new man, created after God in righteousness and holiness of truth.
4. Those who expect and hope for the promise can be blessed.
We need to become longing spirits who are hopeful and anticipating, praying and praying all the time. We must become those who do not cease to have hope. We must look to Jesus Christ rather than the world, rely on and hope. The Bible emphasizes hope in 1 Thessalonians 2:19, "What is our hope, or our joy, or the crown of boasting? Are you not in the presence of our Lord Jesus at his coming?" A man outside the country of Israel, a stranger to the covenants of promise, and without hope and without God in the world."
The hope that the Bible speaks of is ultimately God's promise, and the fulfillment of that promise is to be in the kingdom of God. Thus, this hope is clearly distinct from all the hopes of a successful and happy life on this earth.
Command the rich people of this world not to be proud, not to put their hope in fleeting riches, but to put their hope in God, who gives us all things richly for our enjoyment. 1 Timothy 6:17
"Hope in God", not "hope in fleeting riches," is the true hope we should have. Many people know that their hope for wealth is fleeting, but they do not give up on it. Even among those who believe in Jesus, there are those who pray to God to make their hopes for riches come true rather than to put their hope in God. The goal of our faith today is to give up the "hope of this earth" and have "hope in God" while conflicting between "hope for this earth" and "hope for God."
A chieftain of an Indian tribe at the foot of the mountain is about to die. The chief called his three sons and said,
"Now I am leaving, and one of the three of you must succeed me as the chief of this clan. All of you, go up that holy mountain and bring something beautiful. The one who brings the finest gift will be my successor."
A few days later, the three sons returned.
The first son gave as a gift a very rare and beautiful flower growing on the top of the mountain.
The second son brought a stone of beautiful color, smooth and round, worn by the wind and rain. That
But the third son returned empty-handed and said to his father,
“Father, I have nothing to show you. I went up to the top of that holy mountain and saw it. Beyond that was a beautiful land, green pastures and crystal lakes. It gave me hope for where I was going. What I saw was so moving that I never thought of bringing anything else to my father." The chief replied to this.
"I will make you the new chieftain of our tribe, for you have given me the most precious thing: the hope of a better future."
Hope is not about things that are good to see right now, and things that seem good in a short thought, but things that we have to look farther and think bigger, and discover through discernment to find more fundamental things. As Romans 8:24 says, "The hope that is visible is not hope. Who can hope for what is seen?" The hope we hope for is the invisible but surely promised kingdom of God.
Therefore, we need great faith to have this hope. Above all, you need to have faith in God. In order to have hope in the promises that God Himself swears to us, we must have certain faith in God, who is the absolute.
Martin Luther, the Reformer, said, “Hope is a strong courage, a new will.”
Pindarus said, “The happy man lives by hope.”
Lee Kwang-soo, author of 「Earth」, said, “The eastern sky is getting brighter and redder. It is not far away, and the sun will rise in a round light, next to it, and full of glory”, expressing hope for the future.
5. Those who are in Christ can be blessed.
Jesus already lives in the promise. Therefore, when we abide in Jesus, we become possessors of that promise. Because we are in the Lord, believe in all His promises, hope in hope, and eventually live a life of hope. Colossians 1:4 of the Bible emphasizes life in Jesus by writing, “This is the hearing of your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints.”
John 15:5-7 I am the vine and you are the branches; if he is in me and I in him, this man bears much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. They are thrown away and they are dried up. People gather these things and throw them into the fire, and they are consumed. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.
When this happens, God always keeps His promises to us. The promise is that He will surely bless and multiply us. I bless you with such blessings, blessings, and prosperous and prosperous blessings from God.
Praise: I will surely bless you.
