Title: I Will Pour Out My God

Content Title: I Will Pour Out My God

Bible: Joel 2:28-32

Joel took the terrible locust plague and drought as the starting point of his message. Joel does not view this present plight as a simple natural disaster, but interprets it as a sign that God will judge the whole world. Joel pleads with the people of Israel so that God can grant them new grace and encourages them to repent sincerely. God promises to answer these supplication prayers. This promise of salvation is spoken of as a promise, "I will pour out my Spirit on all people."

First: He poured out the Holy Spirit.

“Afterward I will pour out my body on all people, and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions” (verse 28). 'Manmin' here literally means 'all flesh (Kol-Basar)'. This body is in strong contrast to the Spirit of God. In other words, the 'weakness/weakness of the body' and the 'strength/life force of the spirit' contrast. The powerful Spirit of God comes upon weak human beings. Here, 'all flesh (Manmin)' does not refer to 'all people (all mankind)' as commonly thought. It is clear that this refers only to all Israelis, since in the sentences that follow it refers to 'your' children and 'you' old men and 'you' young men.

Second: The day of salvation is prepared.

“The sun will be darkened, and the moon will turn into blood, before the great and dreadful day of the Lord comes” (verse 31). The most important theme is 'the day of the Lord'. There is no more Old Testament text that deals with this subject so detailed and systematically as the book of Joel. It tells us that the day of the Lord is a day of God's wrath, but it is a day of salvation for those with the Holy Spirit. Before the day of the Lord, reunions took place all over the world, and for us, such a time is a sign that the day of salvation is near. Believe that the day of God's judgment is prepared for us as a day of salvation, and I hope you will live your life serving the Lord with joy.

Third: Victory by the sovereignty of God.

“Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved, for there will be escape from Mount Zion and from Jerusalem, as the LORD has said, and among the remnant there will be those whom the LORD has called” (verse 32). These events are described as 'miracles.' Even on the day of God's judgment, God's elect and those who have been chosen for salvation in the Lord will enjoy victory. Therefore, as the day of God draws near, we can support each other. I hope that you will be victorious on God's day with love and faith.
