Title: I Will Pour Out the Holy Spirit
Content ◎ Text summary and background
The prophecy of the prophet Joel is that there will be an invasion of locusts like never before. He interprets this time as symbolizing the invasion of the enemy and sees it as a sign of “the day of the Lord.” As God's chosen people face this dreadful event, the only way to avoid it is to turn to the Lord and repent. We must be restored through confession of repentance.
1. It will be poured out on all nations (28).
Manmin refers to all nations. At the time, people didn't understand. That's what happened in Acts 2. Hearing the prophecy of the prophet Joel, those who call on the name of the Lord will be saved and testify that there will be the work of the Holy Spirit, and many people will receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit. God always fulfills what he has promised. 1) What are the results?
(1) Children will tell the future.
(2) The old man will have a dream.
(3) The young man will see a vision.
2. It will be poured out on male and female servants (29).
The work of the Holy Spirit that came on the day of Pentecost happened in the same way to the 120 people who were gathered there. Mary Magdalene was also there. There was also Mary, the mother of Jesus. There were 120 women, not just men.
evidence
1) He will perform miracles in heaven and on earth. (Blood, Fire, Smoke Pillar)
2) The great and dreadful day of the LORD will come. (The sun will be darkened and the moon will turn into blood)
3. It comes to those who call on the name of the Lord (32).
No one calls on the name of the Lord, but God grants salvation to the prayers of those whom the Lord has granted him to his cry and the supplications of those who are chosen to cry out.
God has given us the Holy Spirit to save us.
