(First Sunday after Pentecost)
New Translation Psalm 91:1 You who live under the protection of the Most High will remain under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say to the Lord, "You are my refuge, my fortress, the God in which I will trust."
Surely the Lord will rescue you from the hunter's trap and deliver you from a mortal disease.
The Lord will cover you with his feathers, and you will take refuge under his wings, and the truth of the Lord will be your shield and armor over you.
Therefore you will not be afraid of the terror that strikes at night, nor of the arrow that flies by day.
Do not be afraid of the plague that spreads through darkness and the calamity that strikes in the midst of darkness.
If a thousand fall on your left side and ten thousand on your right hand, no calamity will come near you.
But you will see with your own eyes, and you will see the wicked being punished.
You have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High is your dwelling place;
No misfortune will come to you. No calamity will come near your tent.
He will command the angels to watch over you wherever you go.
The angels will hold you with their hands so that your foot does not hit the stone.
You will trample lions and vipers, and you will trample lion cubs and vipers.
(God says) "He loves me dearly, and I will rescue him. He knows my name, so I will exalt him.
When he calls me, I answer him; when he suffers, I am with him. I will rescue him and I will glorify him.
I will make him live long enough to satisfy him, and I will show him my salvation."
