Subject: If you obey everything
Bible: 1 Kings 11:38-40
In today's text, a man named Jeroboam, who was appointed overseer when the ruins of the City of David were rebuilt at the command of Solomon, rebelled against Solomon. At this time, God sent the prophet Ahijah to prophesy the word of the Lord. Verse 38 of the prophecy says, “If you obey all I have commanded you, walk in my ways, do what is pleasing in my eyes, and keep my statutes and my commands, as my servant David did, then I will be with you, just as I built for David. I will build a strong house for you and give Israel to you.”
Here it is said, “If you keep my decrees and my commandments.” Focusing on today's text, I would like to share the grace of thinking with the title "If you obey everything"
First, how do we obey Jehovah's commands?
We know that if we obey God's commands, we will be blessed, otherwise we will be harmed. But how do we obey God's commands? will do Verse 38 says, “If you obey all I have commanded you, walk in my ways, do what is pleasing to my eyes, and keep my statutes and my commands, as my servant David did.”
1) You must walk in the way of the Lord. In the text, “walking in my own way” is said, but “the way” here refers to our way of life. Even if we do the same thing, how do we do it? is very important. There are many ways for us to live in this world, but in the Bible, there are two main ways: My way and yours. That is, the way of the Lord and our way.
2) We must act in a way that is acceptable in the sight of the Lord. To be completely obedient means to live in a way that is pleasing to God. Living a life pleasing to God means living a life that pleases God. To live in obedience to the Word of the Lord is to act worthy of God's sight.
3) It is to keep the law and command like David. The text says, "If you keep my statutes and my commands, as my servant David did."
Second, blessings to those who obey
God is preparing grace and reward for us humans. Grace is salvation through faith. No matter when or what sins a person commits, as long as they believe in Jesus, their sins will be forgiven, forgiven, and they will attain to righteousness and enjoy the grace of becoming a child of God. But even if we all live as children of God, are there people who are having a difficult and difficult life? If you do, there are those who will receive abundant and abundant blessings. However, the blessings are not given by God as a gift from God, but as a gift from God through works.
1) It means that God will be with you. The word "to be with" in the text means the concept of "communion" and "fellowship," which means that God is with us and becomes our friend and our helper. If we obey God's commands and live our lives, God will become our friend and be with us. God is with us at home, at work, and at work. We want to experience God's precious life by obeying God's commands.
2) I will make the house strong. The text says, “I will build a fortified house for you, as I built for David.” God has promised to build a house for those who obey His word.
3) I will give you Israel. In the text, he said, "I will give you Israel." This means the kingdom that Jeroboam will establish in the future. This means kingship.
Third, why should we obey?
Why should we obey Jehovah's commands? will do The reason is that
1) He is a God who punishes those who disobey. Verse 39 says, “I will afflict the descendants of David because of this, but not forever.” This means disobedience.
2) Because God is the one who keeps His promises.
Today, we want to become precious saints who obey the Lord's commands with devotion, knowing that if we obey the word of the Lord well, I will be blessed and my descendants will also be blessed. Amen
