Title: In Your Hands
The content sentence is David's prayer, which continues up to verse 19, and the content is a prayer of thanks for being able to donate a lot of donations with joy and wishing his son Solomon to accomplish the construction of the temple. “12b, it is in thy hand” says, “2 Chron. 20:6, in thy hand is authority and might, and no one can stop it.” Now look at the text:
1. The Lord is blessed (verses 10-11)
"Verse 10, ...bless the LORD...Bless you forever, O LORD, the God of Israel..." David admonished the people and Solomon in front of the congregation (1 Chronicles 28:) and made an offering for the building of the temple ( 1 Chronicles 29:1-9), now we bless and give thanks to God. He remembers and prays for "the father of Israel," that is, Jacob, which praises the God of the covenant, whom he has served since his ancestors. As God made a covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, he believed and praised that his son's temple construction would be accomplished just as he had done for David. Verse 11, “O LORD, the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty…the head of all things”. This is David's experiential confession and praises God's absolute sovereignty. The hand of the Lord is great. God's sovereignty extends throughout the universe (Psalm 19:1-6, 145:8), and "power, glory, and victory" is the victory and conquest of war (Psalm 21:14, 96:6, Revelation 4:11). , 5:12), "sovereignty" arbitrarily abolishes and establishes a king. (Acts 17:26). Because he became the creator of all things (Ephesians 1:22), he referred to this as "the head of all things." That's why David's confession said, "Everything in heaven and earth belongs to you." When our faith reaches this point, we will see the hand of the Lord and be blessed.
2. The Lord is Lord of all (verses 12-13)
“Verse 12, to You… riches and honor are the subject of all things, and in your hand is power and might… in Your hand.” God makes those who He wills rich (Deuteronomy 8:10). He honors them (Deuteronomy 28:1). To receive these blessings, you just have to believe and obey the Word of God (Deuteronomy 28:1-2, Luke 5:5-11). Because God alone rules over all things in the universe and makes those who He desires great and gives authority to them, he said, “It is in your hand.” When we, too, believe in this power, the hand of the Lord who created the universe, we will give thanks and praise. Verse 13, “Now we give thanks to you, our God, and praise your glorious name.” If we all discover God, who is the absolute sovereign and ruler of God, like David, we cannot help but give thanks and praise when we receive God's grace. He is pleased when he gives thanks from the heart, bearing in mind that to give thanks only with words and mouth and to praise the Lord rather than to dishonor God.
3. It is the Lord who gives great grace (verses 14-15)
Verse 14, "Do you have the strength to give with such a glad heart... For what you have received from your hand, I have given to you?" Giving money to God is a great grace from God, David confesses that he only gave what he received from the Lord's hand (verse 16). Man comes empty-handed and returns empty-handed (Job 1:21; Ecclesiastes 5:15). Since the world was created by God (Hebrews 1:2), it belongs to God (Ex 19:5), and is in the hands of God. Yes (Jeremiah 51:7), but if we say that it is mine, we cannot offer because it is a waste, so God blows it away and we become a failure. (Haggai 1:9-11). Verse 15, "Before you ... sojourned with a sojourner... Like a shadow, he does not abide." In the previous verse, it is said that God is the Lord of material things, but in the text, He is the Lord of life. Jacob said that he and his ancestors were all strangers (Gen. 47:9), and after all, they were passers-by (1 Peter 2:11), so he said, “Sojourners and sojourners.” In the sight of God, God will continue to lead us with great grace until we all go to the kingdom of heaven (Hebrews 11:16), which is our eternal home, where we are all still passers-by and sojourners.
<Conclusion> In order to build a spiritual temple well in a reality where we cannot stay permanently, we must happily use all that God has given us and diligently praise God. If you do that, Jehovah, the Lord of all things, will give you great grace until you go to heaven.
