invitation to a big feast
There are two events that have caught the attention of many these days. It is the story of 33 people who were rescued after being imprisoned for 69 days in a collapsed mine after the suicide of a famous person who speaks of hope and happiness. He said hope to others, but unfortunately lost hope to himself. However, the contrast is contrasted with the appearance of the miners who are rescued from a hopeless place in a deep underground tunnel. People around the world were interested in the nameless San Jose mine in Chile because there was life in it, not gold, gold, or anything else. God's interest is life. It has become a joy for the Chilean people and the world, not to mention the miners who were rescued safely. It was a festival. Because he came back alive.
The kingdom of God is also a feast of life. After meeting Jesus, Zacchaeus took Jesus to his house and had a feast. The same goes for Levi. When the second son returned from home, the father slaughtered the fat calf and had a feast. Because it is fun and happy.
In the text, someone held a feast. The characteristic of this feast is ‘a great feast’. So I asked a lot of people. We invite you twice. When the banquet was ready, he invited them in advance, and when the banquet came, he sent the servant to invite him again. Here we find the mission of the servant. It is to deliver the master's orders. It doesn't matter if the other person responds or not. It is the servant's mission to convey the master's will.
Another characteristic of this feast is the prepared feast. ‘All things are ready.’ The feast of the kingdom of God is a feast in which everything is prepared. It is a feast prepared through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ of the washing away of sins and salvation in God's grace, and of becoming a child of God. Anyone who comes to this feast will have joy and eternal life.
But how do those who are invited respond? Specification. All specifications match. It wasn't a sudden invitation. I told him in advance and promised him, but when I asked him to come in time, he refused. The reasons are varied. I bought the field, so I can't go. The field is not running away, but the field is an excuse. A man is his master according to what he is interested in. This one has failed priorities. Rejecting the host's invitation is because you are ignoring the host. The same is true of the person who bought five yoke of oxen. Owning something new and getting preoccupied with it. Those who cannot marry ignore their master's invitation using their family as an excuse. Everyone is interested in their work and themselves. They despise their master's feast. These people describe the Jews who have already become God's chosen people. When the promised Messiah Jesus comes, they refuse. Everyone goes their own way.
The servant returned and told the master. The owner was furious. And the recipient of the invitation changes. The owner's will is firm. Those three important verbs appear in verse 21. It is a command to ‘quickly’, ‘go out’, ‘take me’.
The urgency of the ‘quickly’ invitation. It is an important mission that should not be postponed or delayed. I'll put other things down and take precedence. It is urgent to invite souls to the upcoming feast of the kingdom of God and lead them to God.
The venue for the ‘Go Out’ invitation is not inside the banquet house. You have to go outside. I command you to go out into the streets and alleys of the city. If you don't go out, you won't be able to meet.
Who is the target of the ‘Bring me’ invitation? poor people. They are the disabled. The blind and I are the ones. He is not treated well by the Jews. They are the people who are ostracized and marginalized by society. But it is the mission of the servants to bring them. Am I an invited guest to the banquet house? Or are you a servant who listens to and obeys the master's commands?
The great concern of the owner is to fill my house. There are many vacancies because of those who refused. This is because we must taste all the prepared feasts of the kingdom of God. I hope that you will become the saints who fill the house of God by urging you to this invitational feast.
