Title: Isaac Man of Peace Text: Genesis 17:19
Isaac, the main character of today's text, was born into a family of faith, but not everything was happy, favorable, and good for him. Perhaps we can see that Isaac's life as we think of it was actually more suffering and suffering. Nevertheless, he was a man of peace and lived a life that set an example for all. It was not just that he was able to enjoy such peace and live as a person of blessing. Now we, too, must stop thinking that only I am suffering. I need to get rid of the idea that I am the only one living so unhappy. We need to get rid of the idea that only our family is living in such a difficult way. There are many people who think other people are happy and they think they are unhappy. Everyone has hardships. Everyone has pain that others do not know. How to overcome this pain and create the fruit of happiness is what is important. Happiness doesn't happen automatically. Through Isaac's life today, I hope that we too will live on this earth and become people of faith who make peace, share peace, and create happiness.
1. Isaac is a man who overcame the environment well through faith.
2. Isaac is a man who has not left the land God has given him.
Genesis 26:2-4 Peace comes when we are with God. There was the first famine in the days of Abraham, but it came again in the days of Isaac. But God told Isaac not to leave the land God had promised and not go down to Egypt. If they do not go down to Egypt, God will bless Isaac and his descendants.
Going down to Egypt is not a good thing. Egypt is not God's land. Egypt is not a place for people of faith to go. So God brought the Israelites out of Egypt, where they lived for 430 years. It is a country where idols, sexual immorality, corruption, and all kinds of unclean sins exist. Those who went down to Egypt experienced many tribulations, adversity, and trials.
Where is our Egypt? Where is your Egypt? Egypt is a place where God is not with us. Egypt is a place where people do not walk by faith. Egypt is a place where God is not glorified. Egypt is the place where I pursue my pleasures. You must not go down here. God said to Moses: Deuteronomy 4:4 “But you who have not left the LORD your God have survived to this day.”
3. Isaac was a man who met a good person through prayer.
Three years before Isaac took Rebekah as his wife, he lost his mother, who loved him so much. Separation from his mother was a shock to Isaac. The death of his mother was a shock to Isaac, who had grown up receiving such kindly love. So I had a period of mourning for three years. Isaac's wife, Rebekah, was a comforter to Isaac. Genesis 24:67 The way to meet such a good person is through prayer. Abraham's servant prayed and met Rebekah, and Isaac also prayed and met Rebekah. Gen 24:63-64
