Title: Isaac of Abraham / Genesis 22:5

Chapter 8 Isaac of Abraham

Little Isaac followed his father on a three-day journey from Beersheba, and at last he

stand up and wait I will go over there with the child to worship and return to you."

(Genesis 22:5) "Then he took the wood for the burnt offering, and laid it on his son Isaac, and put his hand on the fire and the sword.

He took his son Isaac with him” (Genesis 22:6) and was quietly climbing a mountain road in the distance.

This was going to be a burnt offering of Isaac.

This was the last difficult test for his father Abraham.

And for his son, the young Isaac, it was the most terrifying first test.

First of all, we can see how difficult this test was for his father Abraham.

First, let's think about a few things:

1. About the time and environment when the test took place

Genesis 22:1 says, "After that, God called Abraham to test him.

The test begins with the words “He said…” Abraham, who is deep here, is Ishmael.

say after it was released. Abraham, who was compassionate, gave birth to Ishmael and his mother, Hagar.

There is a biblical record that he was "deeply grieved" when God commanded him to pursue him.

C (Gen. 21:11). Of course it was natural. Until the age of 15 and 6 (Genesis 17:25 and

21:8-9) It is truly sad for a father who raised me in his arms, and I am not very sad.

did. And he told him that only Isaac would have a son who would inherit the promise.

It gave me hope (Genesis 21:12). So now his father Abraham

It was a time when he lived with hope and devoted all his affection to only Isaac after he was sent away.

"After that day" means just such a time. At that time, Isaac was already a boy

I know that it is the time when I entered adolescence beyond that. It is said that he took his father three days

You can tell from the fact that he was able to walk and climb a mountain path with trees.

Therefore, the father and mother are now waiting for the time of their son's marriage,

that the field will multiply "like the dust of the earth" and "like the stars in the sky" through the

It must have been a time when he was delighted to see the promise.

But now, at such a time, what kind of command is this clear and powerful?

"Take your only son, your only son, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah," said the LORD.

and offer him there as a burnt offering on a mountain as long as I will show you” (Genesis 22:2).

This was indeed a command that was difficult to obey.

2. What is special about the test

The special thing about the test for his father Abraham was that his son Isaac

reader]. As we see in the Bible, God must offer burnt offerings as well.

Isaac specifically emphasized that he was “your son, the only one you love” (Genesis 22:2).

In fact, Isaac was the son he had when he was 100 years old, and he is not the only son of promise.

Was it Looking back, when Ishmael was sent away, God still comforted me.

Wasn't Isaac, who had been there and still remained in his bosom, a great comfort?

But now the situation is different. It was truly a terrifying test that was difficult to bear.

In the past, when he asked to send Ishmael out, he even gave the reason. That is, he

He said that it was because he was not the son of But now Isaac is the son of promise.

He must be offered as a burnt offering, it is truly something that no one can understand, and it can be embarrassing.

It can't be the only thing Without a single word of reason or any explanation,

Who can immediately obey this command to “offer it as a burnt offering” (22:2)? burnt offering

To offer it as a sacrifice means to kill it very much and make it a sacrifice.

If so, how could the seed multiply “like the stars in the sky” or “like the dust of the earth”?

And through whom can God's promises be fulfilled? Actually this

test]. But he obeyed in silence.

3. Abraham's Silence and Obedience

Genesis 22:3) "Abraham got up early in the morning and saddled his donkey..."

This is the message that he had in his heart in carrying out the command of God.

This really shows how tense it was. God said to Abraham, "Moriah

Go to the land... and offer him as a burnt offering" (verse 2).

Soon, "get up early in the morning" and left in a hurry to get ready. What an amazing obedience this is.

He may have stayed up all night to get up so early in the morning. Abrahamic

This obedience is in the Psalms of Gog, “I will be swift and not delay, because I keep Your commandments.

You have done it.” (Psalm 119:60) It is reminiscent of God’s commandment.

What is the need for discussion with flesh and blood to protect it (Galatians 1:15,16). only to him

Only the path of obedience remained.

4. Isaac's Silence and Obedience

The obedience of his young son Isaac is simply amazing. walking with the wood of the burnt offering

Isaac “has fire and sword in his hand” (Gen. 22:6), and the father who followed Du (Gen. 22:7)

Looking at it, it seems that Isaac's real name was going to Abraham.)

They say, "My father...there are fire and wood, but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?

Is there?” (22:7), but he answered his father, “Son, the Lamb for a burnt offering

and God himself will provide for him” (22:8).

There were no words. Finally, the two of them went to the one place you had been directed to.

“Abraham built an altar there and spread the wood to kill his son Isaac.”

(Ge 22:9,10) Isaac did not rebel and simply obeyed in silence.

Truly, it was an amazing silence and obedience that is hard to recall as a human being. Isaac is a bee

I am not a person who has reached the age of majority (13 years old). After three days of walking, he

Could we have simply obeyed without rebellion or rebellion? It's amazing the more you think about it

to be. This means, figuratively, the complete and actual death of Isaac (Hebrews 11:19).

We can only feel a profound feeling in front of Isaac's obedience.

Mount Moriah, which God had directed, was Calvary of the latter days. And he who built the altar of burnt offering

The place must have been the place where the cross of Christ stood in the latter days.

His young son Isaac, who silently ascended to the altar of burnt offering, was the perfect shadow of Jesus Christ.

The cross was the same as the young body carrying the tree and climbing towards Mount Moriah.

It is the shadow of the Lamb of God who went to Golgotha.

From the tormented (?) heart of Abraham who had to kill his son on Mount Moriah, we

imagines the heart of God the Father, who did not spare his only begotten Son. and again

From Isaac, who was willing to sacrifice his blood silently according to the will of the Father, we are the Christ.

Now, what was the result of such faith and obedience? the angel of the LORD

called him from the

“Abraham, Abraham, do not lay your hand on the child. Do nothing to him.

Don't do it. You have not withheld me, even your son, your only son, and now I

I know that you fear God” (Genesis 22:12).

Here they saw a great experience of the amazing faith that they had never experienced before.

It was the faith of [Jehovah-Jireh (!)].
