Title: It's Beneficial to Be Suffered
It is beneficial to suffer
Text: Psalm 119:71
“It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn Your statutes.”
Why did Tolstoy become a ‘female psychology master’?
As an orphan at the age of nine, while traveling between several relatives' houses, Tolstoy had to keep an eye on him. react sensitively. It must be because such a mentality is structured. This makes Tolstoy a great observer at an early age. Especially the master of female psychology.
Tolstoy lost his mother at the age of two, his father at the age of nine, and became an orphan at a very young age. I grew up eating so-called 'noonchibap' while visiting relatives, but I did not get discouraged and rather developed my inner observation skills.
It has come to be evaluated as a 'female psychology master'. The nun-bap swallowed in tears raised him into a world-class writer.
The suffering the saints suffer is by no means harmful, but rather beneficial.
“Before I was afflicted, I went astray, but now I keep Your word. (Psalm 119:67)
Harold S. Kushner, a Jewish rabbi, was faced with an unexpected hardship. It was because his son Aaron had 'progeria' for no reason. He wrote a book in agony in the midst of the unfortunate ordeal of his son dying of old age.
"Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People" is a book. But what he discovered was 'a God who was powerless in the misery of man.' Was it because of resentment and sorrow? He was a Jewish rabbi, but he did not properly understand the God who caused suffering. There is something to think about when you find yourself resentful in the midst of suffering. First, it says that 'God is testing whether I trust and depend on God'. The next question is, 'Am I really getting good grades?' Only when we have this attitude can we reach the conclusion God wants us to have. I need to know that suffering is the only mirror that allows me to see and know what I lack. I've known myself to be a decent and decent person so far, but seeing myself bewildered, angry, and complaining even in the face of small difficulties, I realize that I'm poor. There is nothing more useful than suffering if you can see it. The Christian life is a process of maturation through suffering. Through suffering, I can see my shortcomings and experience a new side of God. Confession of faith through that experience becomes a new door and way that leads us to God.
Our suffering is proof that we are alive, and the pain of our suffering is the way to discover God. Without the cross there is no event of salvation. The truth of Christianity is that there is no crown without the cross. The Lord will bind up our painful wounds and heal them (1 Peter 4:12-13; James 1:2).
“I know that the LORD will defend the afflicted, and will bring justice to the needy” (Psalm 140:12).
As one philosopher once said, "The sweetest music always springs from sorrow," if these students grew up unaware of the pain of this kind of pain, there could be no guarantee that they would not become cruel and insensitive human beings ignorant of the delicate feelings of the soul. it won't be possible. If all these sufferings can make us mature, then we will be able to humble ourselves in our sufferings and develop a compassionate and understanding attitude towards others.
It is said that life consists of 10% of events, 'what happens to me' and 90% of attitudes, 'how I react to what happens'.
There was a woman who was called a moving general hospital. I contracted pulmonary tuberculosis and stayed in bed for 13 years from the age of 24. She also suffered from rectal cancer, Parkinson's disease, and spinal caries. But I did not lose hope. He wrote novels about the original sin of man and God's love, and his studies on the sickbed laid the foundation for his career as a writer. This is the story of Ayako Miura, who at the age of 42 received the attention of the literary circles after winning the Japanese Asahi Shimbun contest for the feature film “Freezing”
Suffering can happen randomly to anyone. So it looks even more absurd. But how you deal with suffering will change your way of life. The key to success is not in the amount of knowledge and experience, but in how you accept the seemingly vaguely unknown world.
We know Job's suffering. When Job loses all his possessions, has his family deprived, and beats him, he protests that he does not know why this is happening even though I have done nothing wrong before God. However, it was not because of Job's sin that Job suffered suffering, but rather because Job did not always remain there, but gave suffering to lead him to a higher level that is pleasing to God. In other words, we need to know right away that suffering is a blessing from God as a parent.
“If children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ, as we must also suffer with him in order that we may be glorified with him. I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us” (Romans 8). : 17- 18)
* Prayer: My joy, my hope, and my life, Lord, I think that there are many hardships in this world in order to have a longing for heaven. Help me to find a deeper level of truth through suffering. Look to the Lord of comfort and peace in the midst of suffering, take up your cross, and pray always with patience. Help us to find the meaning of life in the midst of suffering, overcome it with the power of faith, and use it as an opportunity for growth. We pray in the name of our Savior Jesus. Amen
