Old Testament
21. In that day the LORD will punish the army on high, and the kings of the earth from the earth.
22. They will be gathered together as prisoners in the deep prison, and they will be put in prison, and after many days they will be punished.
23. At that time the moon will be put to shame, and the sun will be put to shame, for the LORD of hosts will reign on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem, and he will glorify before his elders.
new testament
3. When Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, his disciples came quietly and said, "Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and the end of the world?"
4. Jesus answered and said to them, Take heed that no one deceives you.
5. Many will come in my name, saying, I am the Christ, and will deceive many.
6. You will hear about wars and rumors of wars, but beware and not be afraid. These things must happen, but the end is not yet.
7. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in every place.
8. All these are the beginning of calamity.
9. At that time they will hand you over to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations because of my name.
10. At that time many will stumble, and will hold each other and hate one another.
11. Many false prophets will arise and deceive many.
12. The love of many will grow cold because iniquity will increase.
13. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
14. This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
sermon
Advent is the season of waiting for the coming of the Lord. When the Lord first came into the world, He came as a feeble baby, but He promised that He would come again as King of kings and Lord of Judgment. The nearer the second coming of Jesus is, the more difficult it will be to keep the faith. Even in this time of tribulation, what should the saints not forget?
1. God is ( ): When the political situation becomes difficult and war breaks out in the world, believers should not fear that God is not able to handle the world or doubt that the promises will not be fulfilled. God never loses control.
2. Those who lose ( ) will gain: Jesus prophesied that believers would suffer severe persecution. Therefore, the believer must be vigilant to stand on true faith. The early church members risked being hated by the whole world in order to be faithful to Jesus.
3. We must stand firm in the truth: fear and persecution are so great that people will betray and hate each other. Becoming a true believer would be dangerous. Many false prophets will arise and lead many to wander with their false teachings. But the true believer will stand firm in truth and love.
Only those who faithfully follow Jesus will enter the kingdom of God. The focus of the Bible is not on persecution or tribulation, but on salvation and glory. Only those who are awake in faith and prayer will meet the Lord and enter the kingdom.
