Title: Jacob's Esau's Mistake

Jacob and Esau's Mistakes

Genesis 27 18-41

A man named Thomas Watson puts it this way: Repentance is necessary for hypocrites. Hypocrisy is a disguise of holiness, and the hypocrite or stage performer is more than a moralist and is dressed in religious attire.

He claims to be a form of godliness, but denies power (2 Timothy 3:5). A hypocrite is a house with a beautiful exterior, but every room is dark.

He is a rotten pillar, beautifully gilded, and he hides the wounds of his plague under the mask of his confession. A hypocrite opposes makeup on his face, but he wears makeup for holiness.

He can be really evil because he is outwardly good. The hypocrite seems to have his eyes nailed to heaven, but his heart is full of impure flesh. He lives in secret sin against his conscience. He hears, but only his ears.

He is zealous for his church devotion, for which others look at him and praise him, but he neglects his home and closet prayer. A hypocrite pretends to be humble, but this is in order to get ahead in the world.

He claims to have faith, but he uses it as a mask rather than a shield. He carries a bible under his arm, but not in his heart.

Take the candlestick of the Word and examine your heart to see if you can find anything to repent of there.

Dear saints,

Genesis 27 introduces the mistakes of Isaac and Rebekah, and Jacob and Esau.

If the means and methods are not right, even if the goal is good, it cannot be achieved. If the method is bad, like Rebekah and Jacob, they pay the price. God does not fall for the cunning wisdom of men.

Look at verse 18.

Jacob is now deceiving his father as his mother, Rebekah, instructed him. When Isaac listens to Jacob, he knows that it is not Esau, but he is not sure because he cannot see well.

After lying the first time, Jacob continues to lie to his father.

If the wife does something that is not spiritual, both will perish. You decide what is spiritual and what is religious.

Even though they know it is wrong, those who hear it and do it are the same as Ananias and Sapphira.

Let us become saints who seek spiritual discernment.

Look at verse 19.

Now, in response to Isaac's question, he is very proud of himself. And he not only imitates the sound of nails, he proudly says that he is Esau. Jacob is now denying his existence for his own purposes and interests.

Lies are followed by denial of one's existence and loneliness. That is why, even if you deceive others, earn money, and gain fame, you will always live a lonely and lonely life. And they lie that they hunted in the mountains by slaughtering goats.

It's like taking someone else's stuff and claiming it's yours.

Look at verse 20.

Isaac can't see well, but he lies even though he knows that he himself has hunted and that Jacob does not like hunting and is always at home. Isaac is skeptical but believes Jacob's lie because it sounds so true. What doubts do you have when you say that God lets you catch them?

However, Isaac wants to check whether it is Esau or not when his doubts have not disappeared.

Look at verse 21.

No matter how you think about it, it is unbelievable. Touching my hand raises my suspicions even more.

As a result, Isaac's desire to confirm Jacob becomes stronger and stronger.

Look at verse 22.

It was Rebekah who gave me this idea and method. Because she is Isaac's wife, she knows Isaac's heart better than anyone else, so she knows how to get rid of Isaac. I have my doubts, but because it's a perfect alibi

Doubts disappear and Jacob is believed to be Esau.

In verse 23, even Isaac no longer asks questions about his perfect performance beyond any doubt.

Dear saints,

The devil tells lies to us like this. Disguised as the word of God, they make us sin and lie.

We are all deceived because the devil's tactics are so perfect. And we, too, fall for the trick and lie. Greetings Let's be honest Are you not afraid of God?

Finally, Isaac realizes that there is no doubt about Jacob and decides to bless him.
