Title: Jacob's New Life

Jacob's new life

Genesis 29 1-20

It was during World War II. The entrance of a large department store in London, England, was destroyed by a bomb by a German bomber. Then the president closed his eyes for a moment and thought. Soon after, he called his secretary and ordered that the department store entrance be repaired quickly.

A friend came to the department store manager when he heard that the bomb had been bombed. “Honey, how painful are you? Germans are really bad guys, don't be so heartbroken." When the friend said comforting words like this, the boss smiled and opened his mouth. “Oh my God, I have benefited more from the Germans.” “No, what does that mean? Do you see virtue?” Then the boss smiled and explained. “Obviously I did. In our department store, the entrance was too narrow for customers to enter, but now the entrance is very large, making it easier for customers to enter.” He made immediate repairs by making the department store entrance much wider than before. And a new sign was put on the doorway.

“Dear customers, German bombers have greatly enlarged the entrance to our store. In the past, the narrow door made it difficult to enter, but now you can enter and exit comfortably through the wide door. Raise the boss.” Suffering can be a new opportunity, depending on our attitude.

Following her mother's advice, she leaves her parents' home, Beersheba, in Canaan, and goes to Haran, where her uncle lives. She leaves her beloved family and goes to the land of Haran, a foreign land, and begins a new life.

After leaving home, Jacob has no place to sleep and no food to eat. I have had days of anxiety about tomorrow.

But in such despair, Jacob met God. When Jacob met God, he was very shocked, and as soon as he woke up, he erected a stone for a pillar, anointed it with oil, and worshiped God.

Dear saints,

Meeting with God leads to worship. Without experience of meeting God, worship is religious and formal.

Others raise their hands and praise, but you worship without any emotion.

Jacob, who has finally met God, is anxious, and although he cannot see the future, his steps become lighter.

Look at verses 1-3.

The word publish here means to take a step towards a destination.

The distance from Beersheba in Canaan, the hometown of Jacob, to Haran is 500 miles, or about 800 kilometers. So how far is the trip? The theologians estimate that the travel period is probably 15 days.

However, the way Jacob met God would not have been very far.

If we change our mind, the pain will not be heavy, and the long road will not be far away.

We don't change our minds, we just talk about different situations. Not because of this, not because of that. Greetings. I hope you change your mind first and nothing else is the problem.

When Jacob finally arrived at his destination, he found a well and found the shepherds and sheep resting by the well.

A well in ancient times is like life. Therefore, instead of raising the wells one by one, people or flocks must be seen to open the lid and water them.

Look at verses 4-6.

Jacob must have been overjoyed to find the people at the well. The world is fun when you change yourself. It is not a cursed world, a world like the wilderness, but the world looks good.

When you meet God, your thoughts, stereotypes, and values change. Jacob is so happy that he will talk to the people at the well. I talk when I feel good, but I don't want to talk to the person next to me when I'm bad.

They would greet each other and introduce themselves. But they say they are from Haran.

No, isn't that the land I want to visit? How happy were you? How happy would it have been to say that he came from the place he wanted to go? You can rest assured now, and there must have been a sense of relief that you are now alive.

You don't have to wander. And Jacob's question is, do you know a man named Laban who lives in Haran? I asked. Then they say they know it.

This is the secret of the blessing that God is with you. Wherever the blessed ones go, God is preparing them. It's really amazing to see how things go wrong.
