Title: Jacob's troubles./Genesis 34:1-31

Content Title: Jacob's troubles.

Text: Genesis 34:1-31

Key Verse: (Genesis 34:30) And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have troubled me, and you have made me stink upon the people of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. Then I and my house will perish.

If there is no pain or anguish while the children of God are on this earth, then there is a possibility that only another person will arise. Not only that, but God's help will be unnecessary. The Bible without hesitation shows us a mirror and reflects our fallen and present self.

Israel, the noble of God, is suffering in a very pitiful situation despite its power. His children attracted him to this situation, but in fact, he made a number of stories that he was worried about first.

1. Dina.

He himself did not know how much harm this girl's brief outing would do to the people of Israel and to the people of the land in which they were sojourners. why did she go Was the family so constrained that it needed some freedom? Young people are rebellious, so raising them too harshly at a young age can lead to a bad foot.

However, perhaps because of the hazy atmosphere of her father's house and the influence of her mother's idol, the limit of her children's education has become blurred, so this girl did not find it difficult to cross that line. A child's indulgence is always at risk. The result of this indulgence reaches a point beyond imagination, where a tragedy that sheds tears occurs.

2. Simeon and Levi.

(Genesis 34:30) And Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have troubled me, and you have made me stink upon the people of the land, the Canaanites and the Perizzites. my house will perish

At the last closing of his eyes, Jacob remembered this atrocity and declared that they would be scattered among Israel. But Levi was exempted from this curse by obedience and devotion. After that, he said, “The covenant I made with him is life and peace.” They were scattered, but he was like salt. In Simeon's case, regardless of obedience or devotion, the curse was not lifted and was enforced. It is a combination of encouragement and warning.

3. Jacob.

All these misfortunes begin with the fact that Jacob bought the land and settled too close to the city. “(Genesis 33:18) Jacob came to the city of Shechem in the land of Canaan in peace from Paddan-aram, and pitched his tent before the city.” As a pilgrim, he had no right to do this. As a man of God, there are few records for the piety of children. If Christian parents settle down with a partner in this world, they will have to bear the misfortune that will come upon them and their children, and the woe that tarnishes the glory of God.

People of God must always settle in a time and place that puts God first.

apply.

1) Encounter with God and the chosen life have no purpose in enjoying only peace. I have to protect that grace not only in myself but also in my family.

2) A child's derailment is the most heartbreaking part for parents. Therefore, in a believing family, prayers of extraordinary love and tears should be given to children.

3) Children of God must find a stage of life that is different from people on this earth. If it is judged that it is a job that is detrimental to serving God, you must have the courage to change it.
