review
1. Abraham took a second wife and had children.
When God gave Isaac, he also restored youth. As such, there are some God's promises that only fulfill those promises, but in fact, He gives them along with treatment and fulfillment of the whole person.
Ex) Let me go to Seoul National University -> I like to study and do well... diligently...
Ex) Material blessings -> He gives you the ability to manage your business well. If this is not followed, it is in fact impersonal and not a real blessing.
2. There was no benefit in taking a second wife.
First, you have to be in the heartbreaking position of having to let your children go again. And their children became like a deadly reef to the descendants of Isaac, the son of promise.
3. Returning to ancestors due to high numbers and strong energy
It is a word that describes a person who lived all the days of life and went to God's arms in peace. Everyone should pray for a peaceful and virtuous death.
The expression “returned” is a unique expression in the Bible and in Korea. / We must remember that death is a heaven to return to. We have a hometown to return to.
<Descendants of Isaac>
1. Isaac was 40 at the time of marriage (19-20). / He was at an age where he could choose to fall in love on his own, but he did not decide on his own, leaving everything to his father Abraham. Because he was easily moved, he did not take anyone and waited until God gave him the wife he had chosen. It is very important to instill this view of marriage in our children as well.
Abraham's patience is great. How much did the reader Isaac miss his grandchildren? However, for any reason or condition, she did not take pride in being a woman who did not know God, and waited patiently in God's way. He could consider marriage by arrangement, but he never used marriage as a way to consolidate his power. It was because he was well aware of how important the family is to accomplish God's will. This is because he has painfully engraved the fact that even if he has gained everything, losing his faith is the same as losing everything.
Example) These days, it is said that in marriage customs, a man must transfer his name to a stepping stone for success, a woman a stepping stone for selling and repair, and a country bachelor's name must be transferred to the family of five rice paddies. Indiscriminate sexual depravity of adolescents. Contract marriage, etc., can never accomplish God's good will.
2. Isaac praying for Rebekah, who has no children (21,26) / The son Isaac, who was born when he was 100 years old, got a wife, but the waiting child does not enter. They said that they were 60 when Jacob and Esau were born, so they married and had no children for 20 years. So Isaac prays for his wife.
Do not blame the problem and pray earnestly for it! There is no record in the Bible that Abraham or Isaac worked and tortured Rebekah because they could not have children. Isaac prayed for his wife, and that prayer was answered by God, and God gave him two sons as twins.
The reason that Abraham or Isaac did not employ or abuse Rebekah was because they had already received the training of God. Abraham himself had no children until he was 100 years old. Therefore, even if there were no children, they could wait with the belief that God could give them children at any time. He was able to ask for God's will by simply praying without having to hire a concubine like the rest of the world. A person of faith who was trained in this way was able to handle difficulties well with a generous heart and faith. If it had not been for such a platform, the reader's self-esteem would have taken some other action if they had not had children for 20 years. This is the abundance that the refinement of faith gives.
But this is very foolish, and evil in the sight of God. Because it makes God's good hand evil, as if God were treating me unfairly.
Also, in the case of long-term chronicity (大器晩成), when God provides great grace to him, he receives prayers for a long time. Therefore, after praying at the most, it is poured out through the mouth, and in the end, the period of the trial is lengthened by itself. When we speak of unbelief with our mouths, Satan uses them as an accusation and slows down our response.
We must learn two or three things from the incident of Isaac.
1) Learn to pray to God without blaming people and circumstances.
2) Pray, but learn to pray with patience until it comes true.
3) And during the period of patience and prayer, you should never complain, complain, doubt, or speak of unbelief. These things ruin not only my relationship with God, but also my own spiritual situation and everything else.
By faith alone... by thanksgiving... only by prayer...
3. Two peoples in the same womb (22-26) / When the deadline for childbirth is approaching, they fight and argue with each other in the womb. So Isaac was perplexed and prayed to God to ask what the truth was. God's answer was that the two peoples were in their womb and they were separated from each other. And according to the flesh, he declares that the younger will be stronger than the older, and the older will serve the younger.
Here we see an aspect of God's doctrine of predestination according to election. Even when they did not do anything good or evil, the two peoples were divided from the womb according to God's choice. The Bible speaks of this fact as follows:
“(Romans 9:10) Not only this, but also Rebekah was conceived by one of our fathers, Isaac (Romans 9:11), and the will of God, according to his election, when their children were not yet born, and they did nothing good or evil (Romans 9:12) He said to Rebekah, “The older will serve the younger.” (Romans 9:13) It is written, “I loved Jacob, but I hated Esau.” It is like!”
To say that the older will serve the younger does not mean that he will gain worldly power, but that God's providence and grace will be fulfilled through Jacob. In other words, the physical firstborn will be Esau, but the spiritual firstborn (who will carry on God's promise) will be Jacob.
Also, it can be confirmed once again that flesh and blood do not inherit the kingdom of God, but only faith in the spirit in the Holy Spirit is the condition for inheriting the kingdom of God. Even children who inherit the lineage of Isaac, the descendant of the same promise, can be completely different like this.
Ex) There is no other spiritual advantage for being born to parents of faith. They were just born with an environment where they could have any number of beliefs. Also, if you want to, you can inherit your parents' faith and God's promises as your own. But if you refuse, you have no spiritual privileges. Just because a father becomes a pastor or elder does not mean that his or her children will be saved because of their merits. Of course, some material and carnal privileges may be granted.
Ex) When Jesus came to visit our mothers and brothers, He declared that my true mothers and true brothers are those who hear and do the Word (Spirit) of God.
When he was born, Esau describes his body as red and like a hairy garment. In today's terms, the word "multi-robe" is like a mink coat. A coat made of animal skin. So Esau's appearance is a furry man full of masculinity just by looking at him. In the opposite way, Jacob came out holding his brother's heel, wearing a manly man, as if he had no strength but a persistent feminine appearance. From the moment they were born, this brother had been a fateful antagonist. For the rest of his life, Jacob clings to his brother's heel.
4. Jacob, Esau, and parental preference (27-28) / Now, the two brothers have grown up and their personalities are fully revealed. Esau became a wild man and became a hunter, and Jacob became a quiet man, just like a man who lived in the house. Isaac liked the masculine Esau, and Rebekah, who had no daughter, loved the feminine Jacob. Parental favoritism is evident. This parental favoritism further fueled the rivalry between the two brothers. Now that Isaac was loved by his father, he had nothing to envy, and Rebekah wanted to make Jacob, whom she loved, a blessing anyway. Remember that favoritism spoils the future of their children, and parents must always be fair to their children.
Ex) Children who were in the shadow of favoritism when they were young develop hostility toward their parents and other siblings when their parents grow old.
5. Red bean porridge and Jangja-kwon (29-34) / Finally, the problem started. Jacob, who came out holding his brother's heel when he was born, takes advantage of his brother's hunger to buy the birthright with red bean porridge.
positive point
negative point
Jacob
Longing for God's blessing (the birthright) => This is very important for believers. This is because God's blessings are given to those who long for it and cherish it.
Taking it in a human way => No matter how blessed it is of God, if you take it unjustly in a human way, you will eventually receive the price of suffering along with the blessing.
in
A voluptuous point that does not care about personal matters => However, human sensibility and temperament may not be worthy of the kingdom of God. Sometimes, we have to discern whether we are worthy before God or not.
Ex) Holy water on Sundays, drinking with friends
Neglecting God's blessings => God has granted believers tremendous spiritual privileges. If we neglect this, we may find ourselves in an unfortunate position like Esau. Esau valued God's blessings less than a bowl of red bean soup. Of course, Esau may have answered that as a joke. But we must remember that my words have legal and spiritual effect. How you say it is very important. Be careful not to stumble with your words.
Ex) It must be remembered that Satan was targeting Job's words.
“(James 1:26) If anyone considers himself religious and does not bridle his tongue and deceives his heart, this man’s religion is in vain!”
