Title: Jehovah Jireh

Jehovah Jireh

Genesis 22:1-18

1. Introduction

<Genesis 12:1-25:11> is the history of Abraham for 100 years, until Abraham, the father of faith, left Haran at the age of 75 and was buried in the cave of Machpelah in Hebron (Mamre), the land of the Hittites, at the age of 175. It is recorded.

According to this record, Abraham left Haran at the age of 75-Famine to Egypt because of famine-Divorce from his nephew Lot-War to rescue Lot-Tithe paid to Melchizedek king of Salem-Promised to give Isaac-Sarah and Hagar conflict- Abraham's circumcision at the age of 99 (Ishmael 13) - The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah - Conflict with Abimelech in the land of Gerar - Isaac obtained at the age of 100 - Expulsion of the eldest son Ishmael (about 15 years old) - Conflict at Beersheba - Sacrifice of Isaac -Sarah's death-Rebekah was taken as daughter-in-law-Abraham died at the age of 175, ending with Isaac and Ishmael's burial in the cave of Machpelah. Indeed, it has been a 100-year period of many things, many events, and many twists and turns.

2. Highlights of Abraham's History - Jehovah

I believe that the highlight of Abraham's grand history is the three tests Abraham received. The first is the test that one day you suddenly asked to leave your country, your relatives, and your father's house and go to the land that I will show you. The second is the test that you will have heirs in the absence of the ability to produce children. The third is the test of offering your only son, Isaac, whom you love, as a burnt offering on Mount Moriah. We meditated on this issue in Nos. 115, 480, 481, and 482 of the Fountain of the Word.

The first test in Genesis 12-Can we leave the safe present in which all things are prepared and go towards the uncertain future? The second test in Genesis 15-Do you believe that it is impossible with men, but it is possible with God? None of the tests that had to be done were ordinary tests, but Abraham passed them simply-recklessly-honestly.

However, the third test in Genesis 22 the test to offer up your only son Isaac as a burnt offering was qualitatively different from the previous two tests. The first two tests were also tests that could not be passed unless you had enough faith, but do you have faith in the third test? don't you? What is belief itself rather than a flat dimension? It was a three-dimensional test. That is, the purpose of the first-second test was “Isaac”, and to offer that “Isaac” as a burnt offering means that the first-second test itself is meaningless, and therefore it means that it is meaningless for a person to live by faith. However, Abraham accepted (accepted) even that absolutely meaningless belief by faith. As a result, we were able to enter the world of <Jehovah Reh> the world of the new heavens and the new earth.

3. The meaning of Jehovah-jireh (which will be prepared on the mountain of the Lord) to us

first. God tests us, challenges us, tests us, trains us, and refines us (Genesis 22:1, Job 1:12, Job 2:6, Proverbs 17:3, 1 Corinthians 10:13). According to the Bible, God is constantly challenging and testing people. To Abraham, as in the text - To Moses who said I can't go, I can't go - To Elijah sitting under the rodem tree and begging for death - Alas, Lord Jehovah, to Jeremiah who said I do not know how to say I am a child - To Jonah, who does not want to go to Nineveh - Customs Even to Jesus, who says to Matthew, the tax collector who sits on the esthetic table, and says, “If it is possible, let this cup pass from me,” Jehovah God challenges, tests, and trains. We are no exception.

Before God's challenge-test-refinement-trial, like Isaiah, I am here. Send me. Will you do it? Or will he return with a sad look and anguish like a rich young man? What we do is entirely a matter of our own attitude.

second. Like Abraham, Jehovah-jireh, like Isaiah, willingly replied, “Here I am,” and passed the test of God with blood, tears, and sweat. - New heavens and new earth.

Abraham saw a ram whose horns were caught in the bushes. Job saw the Lord, whom he had only heard with his eyes (Job 42:4). Elijah's servant saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:14-17). Elisha heard the still small voice of God (1 Kings 19:12). Elijah's servant saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire (2 Kings 6:14-17).

third. Blessing of Jehovah-jireh. The word “Jehovahreh” means “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided” (Genesis 22:14).

What does it mean? Each of them had different needs in their existential situation, such as Abraham-Job-Elia-Elisha's servant. Therefore, when they passed the test, they received different things from God. Abraham was a ram caught in the bushes, Job was a God whom he had seen, Elijah was a small voice of God, and Elisha’s servant was horses and chariots of fire. The shape was different, but the things that were built up in their hearts the things that were blocked the things they desperately wanted all in one stroke! It is common to say that a new horizon has been opened up, that their souls have become like a watered garden, and that a new and lofty force like the Yangtze River has flowed into their hearts. That is Jehovah-jireh.

, 至於用力之久而一旦豁然貫通焉 (A man who puts all his heart and soul into a field and puts all of his effort into it, one morning suddenly unites the profound principles of that field. piercing through).

Therefore, no matter what frustrating - meaningless - meaningless - and hopeless situation in life that you would rather die, you must live unconditionally and believe in God the Father, who helps Jehovah-jireh, and live honestly - simply - foolishly - like an idiot. .
