2 Kings 3:13-20 The Lord is moved... Topic: 24. Holy Spirit. 2005. 7. 24.
◎ Introduction
: Moab, who served Israel after David's conquest, betrayed Israel after Ahab's death. In retaliation for this, Jehoram enlisted the help of King Jehoshaphat of Judah and formed an allied army to go on an expedition.
One). They face a big problem before they even start a full-scale war.
※ The Allied Forces, who chose the wilderness route, have no water to feed their soldiers and livestock after seven days of their march.
2). When they were in trouble, the king of Israel (Jehoram) and the king of Judah (Jehoshaphat) began to recognize God.
Jehoram: When he, who did not ask God, was in trouble, he complained to God and lamented that he was going to give it to Moab.
Jehoshaphat: When difficulties came, I remembered God and looked for “a prophet who could inquire of the Lord.”
3). When the three kings come, Elisha rebukes the king of Israel (Jehoram) for his sins, but helps the king of Judah (Jehoshaphat).
That is, ① together with a way to obtain water for the Allied Forces, ② promises victory in this war.
1. Elisha rebukes the king of Israel (Jehoram). (13-14)
※ “What have I to do with you?” Points out the injustice of the king of Israel (Jehoram). That is, rebelling against God
He points to the evil that has been passed down from Ahab and Jezebel as if he had served Baal, so he would seek the prophet of Baal, but why did he find himself, the prophet of God.
※ Jehoram: Without realizing his mistake, he complains that God is trying to hand them over to Moab.
It stems from a childish, self-centered attitude that knows that the trouble he is facing comes from God, but does not think about why he did it.
※ Elisha: While rebuking Jehoram, king of Israel, he said that he would grant their request when he saw the face of King Jehoshaphat of Judah.
