Jehovah Nissi
(Exodus 17:8-16)
If you look at the 66 books of the Bible, God has promised to give 32,560 kinds of great blessings to the people who love them. We can confirm that all the promised blessings are answered through prayer. Therefore, God does not turn away from the cry of those who pray.
If you don't get an answer while praying, that would be a sign that you prayed something God didn't want you to do. God does not hear repeated prayers, prayers offered in doubt, prayers without repentance, prayers of hypocrisy, prayers of lust. Micah 3:43 says, “Then they will cry out to the LORD, but he will not answer them, and he will hide his face from them according to the wickedness of their deeds.”
The result of prayer lies in answers. King Hezekiah was able to extend his life by 15 years by weeping and praying toward the wall before God. David sinned, but after he sinned, he confessed his sins and prayed for the bed to be wet, so he became a king who was used as a valuable king in a generation. When Paul and Silas prayed in prison, they experienced the miracle of opening the prison doors. In addition, the 120 members who gathered in Mark's upper room experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost by praying with the same heart. In this way, prayer brings great power. So, what is prayer?
1. Prayer becomes the channel through which we can meet God.
Because prayer is a channel through which we can have a serious spiritual conversation with Heavenly Father, God is close to those who pray earnestly. (Psalm 91:15) “He will call upon me, and I will answer” (Isaiah 58:9) “When you call, the Lord will answer; when you call, I will say, ‘Here I am’” (Isaiah 55:6). Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near."
An atheist named Laboli Ingsol encouraged his friend, General Lew Wallis, who was also an atheist, to write a book against Christianity. Wally tm listened to that exhortation and picked up a brush to write such a book. First of all, he had no choice but to read the Bible because he needed to know what Christianity was. But as he read the Bible, his thinking gradually changed. In the end, instead, under the influence of the Bible, I repented and fell into great grace. So he eventually wrote the famous novel "We All Know", describing the holy life of Jesus.
Dr. Jay Shilson of Princeton was a famous Old Testament scholar. Some of the Princeton college students at that time came and said to Dr. Wilson, "We can't believe this or that of the Old Testament, so we're here to discuss." How many times have you read the Bible?
There is no one so foolish as one who opposes without reading the Bible. There is no one so foolish as one who denies the work of God without praying. The Word and prayer are ways to feel the existence of God. Pray. You will meet God. Pray earnestly, pray with tears, pray while waiting for the right time without being discouraged. God does not turn away from your prayers, He hears the voices of those who cry out, and He sees the prayers of those who weep. If you pray, you can meet God. Prayer is the channel through which we can meet God.
2. Prayer is the key to solving problems.
When she faced injustice, resentment, and resentment, Hannah did not express her anger toward people, but turned it into a prayer and poured out her heart to God. In Isaiah 38, when King Hezekiah fell ill and died, he turned his face to the wall and poured out his heart to God and prayed with all his heart. At that time, God answered his prayer and extended his life by 15 years.
Humans have some problems. It would be a lie to say that there are no problems. Humans have certain problems. They have a variety of problems, such as health problems, family problems, work problems, problems with the opposite sex and marriage, problems with faith, problems with employment, and financial problems. It doesn't matter if I can solve these problems on my own, but there are parts that I cannot solve on my own. In times like these, we should ask God.
3. Prayer is what makes life victorious.
Prayer has the powerful power to overcome crises. When France was defeated by the German Nazis in World War II, the 290,000 troops who had crossed over to help from England were unable to do so on their own, so they fled to the Strait of Dover to return to England. Hitler stood idly by ordering the complete annihilation of British soldiers fleeing from Berlin. At that time, King George VI of England declared a day of prayer to pray to God to rescue the British army in all of England, and the whole nation prayed that day. After praying, a strange miracle happened. There was a great storm on the German side that day, so not a single plane could take off, and it rained so much that not a single tank could move. However, the Strait of Dover, where the British were stationed, was so calm and calm that it was as clear as a mirror, and many ships were able to safely transport 290,000 British troops to England. After that, all British people, including the British Army, prayed to God in thanksgiving and gained great strength. Call on me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver you, and you will glorify me (Psalm 50:15).
There are examples of this in the Bible as well. When the people of Moab, Ammon, and Maon united to attack Israel, Jehoshaphat proclaimed a fast to all the people and prayed, so that in the end the war was won. After Jehoshaphat and the people of Israel prayed, the allied forces had a disagreement on Mount Seir, and they fought each other and eventually the allied forces failed in the battle.
In the Bible, we can find many facts that we overcome through prayer when we are in a crisis that cannot be solved by human strength. When the Israelites camped at Rephidim, the Amalekites attacked Israel. So Moses said to Joshua. “Choose your men and go out and fight Amalek. Tomorrow I will pick up the staff of God and stand on the top of the mountain.” Joshua did as Moses commanded, and went out to fight, and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the mountain. But when he fought against Amalek, Moses raised his hands in prayer to win the battle, and when he lowered his hands, Amalek prevailed. When Moses' arms were tired, Aaron and Hur held one man's lower arm and the other his upper arm so that Moses' arm would not come down. So, in the end, Joshua defeated the Amalekites. Moses built an altar there and called it ‘Jehovah Nissi’ (the Lord is my banner), saying, “Put up the banner of the Lord. The LORD will fight Amalek from generation to generation.”
Disobedience, disbelief, anger, guilt, disobedience, anger, nervousness, envy, jealousy, discouragement, frustration, worry, worry, pride, pride, cold-heartedness, criticism, laziness, lewdness, lack of love, selfishness, chattering, Depression, frustration, dissatisfaction, sadness, lack of gratitude, and claiming our own knowledge and experience (Ephesians 430), if we pray, we become new creations. You will win life. Does anyone have the burden of disease problems and guilt? Pray hard. “If you humble yourself and pray and seek my face, turning from the evil way, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive your sins and heal the land” (2 Chronicles 7:14). . The prayers of the righteous have great power” (James 5:16). Does anyone have plans to do something again? Is there anyone who wants to make their dreams come true? I want to pray earnestly.
4. Pray.
First, it is to entrust everything and pray. “I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it shall be done for you” (Matthew 11:24), “Ask in faith, and do not doubt at all” (James 1:6), “Ask, and it will be given you. seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you; for everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened” (Luke 11:9-10). Giving everything to the Lord and praying is one of the principles of answered prayer. We do not doubt as it is said, “He who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Do not expect such a person to get anything from the Lord, for he is a double-minded and undecided in all things” (James 1:6-8). I hope you can leave it alone and pray.
Second, pray as if you were talking to God. If you are talking to a bad-hearted person, your heart will be twisted, but if you are talking to a gentle person, your mood will be mild. For this reason, if we diligently engage in dialogue (prayer) with God, even our ugly humans will become noble and innocent without knowing it. Nations that do not pray, families that do not pray, churches that do not pray, and people who do not pray do not change. You should pray in particular, but tell God in detail. Just as it is frustrating when conversations do not work in interpersonal relationships, life becomes frustrating if you do not pray. It is because we do not pray that heavy burdens such as suffocation and suffocation are pressing on us.
Third, we must pray earnestly (Luke 18:1-8). Abraham prayed earnestly for his nephew in the perishing city of Sodom, Isaac prayed earnestly for his wife, who was troubled by not having children. Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David, and Solomon were people who prayed earnestly. “If you seek me and seek me with all your heart, you will find me” (Jeremiah 29:13).
Prayer is God's banner (Jehovah Nissi) that gives victory in our lives. I hope that you can pray earnestly, believing that if you raise the banner of Jehovah high, he will bless your lives and families from generation to generation. Do not rush while remembering the saying, “Whatever you pray for and ask for, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” (Mark 11:23-24).
