Title: Jehovah Roe
Jehovah Roe
Psalm 23:1-6, John 10:10-11
1. Introduction
The world is in turmoil due to the international financial crisis. President Bush of the United States announced a statement that he would take all measures to resolve the financial crisis after meeting with the G7 (USA-UK-Canada-France-Germany-Italy-Japan), the IMF governor, and the World Bank president on October 11th. . Korea is no exception. Stock-funds plummet and protesters flock to banks to encourage investors to invest, a securities company employee commits suicide, and these days, a bank employee's main job is to answer calls from investors, fearing a repeat of the Great Depression of the 1930s I say (Hankyoreh 10. 11.).
When the financial market is broken - companies go bankrupt - companies go bankrupt - mass unemployment occurs - family economy is ruined - social chaos (anomie phenomenon) occurs. In Korea, through the 1997 International Monetary Fund (IMF), we all thoroughly experienced how terrifying the financial crisis was. How many people lost their jobs at that time - became homeless - homes were destroyed - and even whole families committed suicide by taking drugs, lighting briquettes in cars, jumping out of high-rise apartments, or jumping into subways. how many were there? Oh, that was really heartbreaking. A disaster like the IMF should not happen again. In modern society, an economic crisis is like a state of war. All countries and peoples must come together and overcome this crisis inevitably as soon as possible.
We believers prayed for the Armed Forces who took part in the Korean War - Vietnam War - Iraq War. I think now is the time to pray earnestly to God, our Shepherd, for giving us courage and wisdom to overcome this economic crisis.
2. Jehovah Roe (God our Shepherd)
The phrase “ro’e” (shepherd) is very familiar to us. The Bible compares our relationship with God and Israel - the king (priests, prophets, leaders) and His people - Jesus, to a shepherd and a sheep. The word “roe” (shepherd) comes from “ra’a,” which means to grazing-grazing-stone rather than stone.
In the story of the Romans, Shiono Nanami said, “There are only two reasons for the existence of the Roman emperor. The first is the provision of food for the Roman citizens, and the second is the extermination of Rome’s externalities.” Such is the reason for the existence of the shepherd. The first is the sheep's pasture, and the second is the defeat of the sheep's external enemies, such as lions or bears (1 Samuel 34-35). An emperor who neglects these two missions is not an emperor or a shepherd. The Bible strictly distinguishes this between the good shepherd (Psalm 23:1, John 10:10) and the labor shepherd (Ezekiel 34:1-6, John 10:12-13). God is our Good Shepherd (Good Roe).
3. Lessons from “Jehovah Loeh (Jehovah is our Good Shepherd)”
first. Jehovah God is the One who feeds us with the pasture of the flesh. The Bible testifies that God is the Good Shepherd, who feeds His people abundantly with pasture of flesh. He fed them with manna, quail, and water from the rock. He sent crows to feed the exhausted Elijah and fed it through the widow of Zarephath (1 Kings 17:8-16). He fed 5,000 people with five bowls of fish and 4,000 people with seven barley loaves and a couple of fish.
Therefore, Jesus said, “Do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat, what shall we drink, or what shall we wear?
second. Jehovah God feeds not only the food of the flesh, but also the food of the spirit. Man cannot live on bread alone. Therefore, Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). David confessed this, “He revives my soul and leads me in the paths of righteousness for the sake of his name” (Psalm 23:3). Also, the psalmist said of this, “He has sent his word, and heals them, and delivers them from the abyss” (Psalm 107:20). Now, let us all meditate deeply on the contents of Hymn 79 and sing vigorously here!
There is a refuge, come, you who are in trouble, the lands are changed and the waves rise up and overflow on the mountains; Gentiles make a fuss, nations gather and vibrate, but once our Lord's voice is spoken, everything in the world will be destroyed. The Lord Almighty, you help us, we are a refuge, you put an end to the world's strife. The high LORD, we seek us, hallelujah, the afflictions are great and the afflictions are extreme, but there is a refuge, the LORD.
Now, how are you? It gives you strength, courage, and courage. Hallelujah!
3. Jehovah God is our guide. David said, “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me” (Psalm 23:4). And finally David became king of the united kingdom of Israel and said, “Who am I, Sovereign Lord, and what is my house, that you have brought me to this? 2 Samuel 7:18-29)”.
What does it mean?
This is a prayer to thank God by revealing and giving thanks to God who protected me in the valley of the shadow of death, the shepherd of Bethlehem, on the outskirts of Israel, and who guided me to the throne of Israel as I was. .
No, this is not like prayer-gratitude-gratitude-grace-reward-praise, but maybe it led to the valley of tears-pain-sorrow-anxiety-fear-death so marvelously-deeply? It is a 吐露 (Toro) of wonder-surprise-awe-awe-inspiring.
Jehovah God is the one who guides my life in the same way. When each person looks back on their own life so far, they say, “It is so!” no you won't be able to
No, is it?
