Title: Jephthah the Judge (Judges 11:1-39)
Contents 1. Who is Jephthah? The son of a prostitute, one who was expelled from his half brothers, who owns nothing and lives with miscellaneous goods Jephthah was an unhappy born person, that is, an illegitimate child who could not participate in the assembly of God according to the law.
But he was a man who feared and trusted God. That is why God exalted him as the highest among the people and gave him an abundant life.
We learn that external conditions, no matter how humble, cannot prevent us from receiving God's grace.
2,. wear a diplomat
As the commander of Gilead, Jephthah tried to solve the problem peacefully through diplomacy with King Ammon. Jephthah had the knowledge and conviction of God's Word and did his best in diplomatic dialogue using that knowledge. But there was no intention to compromise. He was only claiming his legitimate rights.
Am I living in compromise with the world in the realm of God's kingdom? Let's look back and see if my heart is completely in the kingdom of God, and whether my house church fully owns the promised inheritance rather than compromise with the world.
Our battle is not a battle of flesh and blood, but a battle with Satan and a battle of the spirit.
3. Jephthah's victory The Spirit of the Lord came upon Jephthah and gave him power. Jephthah found the 20 cities of Gilead that had been occupied by Ammon and achieved a great victory by subduing Ammon. Jephthah, clothed with Jehovah's power, has a great victory, but his humanity makes a mistake.
Although Jephthah had the power of Jehovah's god, he was impatient and made mistakes. Even with divine powers, humanity does not disappear.
4. Consequences of false vows Jephthah's oath was not wrong at that time. Jephthah's vow was wrong from the start. This was out of his own will. He made a wrong vow because he had a wrong knowledge of God, so Jephthah suffered because of his daughter.
True worship is to be the light and salt of the world and to live as a true sacrifice by boasting only of the cross of Jesus Christ in our lives and serving only Him.
