Jesus ① - Shedding tears
(John 11:32-37, Matthew 9:35-38)
(…) The topic we want to share today is the tears of Jesus. The writer of Hebrews testifies that while Jesus was in the flesh, he offered up supplications and wishes with intense weeping and tears to the one who was able to save him from death. John 11:35 speaks of Jesus wept. I wonder how important this one word was, so I thought it would be expressed in one verse.(…) Let's think about today's text again.
① You made me cry and wait.
Even after hearing that Lazarus was in critical condition, Jesus hesitated for 48 hours. The disciples thought Jesus was hesitating because he was about to be stoned to death in Bethany a few days ago. But Jesus went there. Then why were you deliberately late? This was so that their faith would grow as they waited for Jesus. (…) While weeping and waiting, our hearts become pure. Keeps me while I wait. It will strengthen your faith even more. For this, Jesus made the Bethany family wait (…)
②The Lord wept. (Jesus wept)
The Lord came four days after Lazarus died. Verse 38 says, “Did not the man who opened the eyes of the blind say that Lazarus could not be saved?” It was a criticism of what condolences meant after death. Twice in verses 33 and 38, the Lord was wrathful. This emphasizes the meaning that the heart moved from the depths of the heart. This is an expression of how the Lord is truly comforting Martha and Mary. The Lord wept in front of the tomb of Lazarus.(…) The tears that flowed down His cheeks were of great comfort to Martha, Mary, and his brothers who had lost their brother. It moved the Bethany people. “Jesus wept!” This one word was the echo of love that the resonance of the love Jesus created spreads from heart to heart.(…) Jesus who wept understands those who weep. “Jesus wept” These short words bring us to the Lord who comes to us with understanding and forgiveness.
③The tears of Jesus are the beginning of holy healing.
(…) When the Lord saw the wandering man, he had compassion on him, saying he was like a sheep without a shepherd. He took pity on the wandering souls. The tears of the Lord come from a heart of compassion and compassion.(…) It was when the only son of the widow of Nain died. Combining the mother's sorrow and the sympathetic sorrow of the villagers, they carry the coffin to the burial ground. Jesus was heartbroken and touched the coffin, saying, “Do not weep.” The mercy of Jesus was the solution to the tragic event. (…) A compassionate heart is the beginning of holy healing. In the last days, faith will disappear, love will grow cold, and there will be no assurance of salvation, so we follow false prophets. The tears of Jesus awaken our faith. He tells us to light the fire of love. He tells us to have faith in the true savior. Our tears should be tears that inspire faith, love, and salvation (hope). - Amen-
