★ Jesus Christ and the Bible
☆ Bible: John 5:39
The text reads that Jesus went up to the Jerusalem temple in the second year of his public life and healed a 38-year-old lame man at the pool of Bethesda, so he was envy and jealous of the Jewish religious leaders. This is what you said at the time.
Eventually, the Jews crucified Jesus Christ to death. Since then, the Jews have been directly and indirectly involved in all human wars and financial (economic) crises.
The fact that the Jews were chosen as God's chosen people for the history of mankind's redemption and had the Old Testament, the word of God's first covenant, but could be distorted in this way, is that they were chosen as God's second chosen people through Jesus Christ, and of the new covenant. It cannot but be a very important self-reflection and lesson for Christians who have the New Testament, which is the Word.
1. “Thinking that you have eternal life from the Bible” (a book about the eternal life of the kingdom of heaven):
1) The Bible is called BIBLE, and it is derived from biblos, which means books written on broad reed leaves called papyrus, where the ancient Phoenicians, who developed commerce, wrote letters before the invention of paper.
“Scripture” means “scribe write”, and only the most important contents were written on parchment (sheepskin) in the ancient society, where writing instruments were also scarce, meaning “important documentary documents”.
Before paper was invented, records were sometimes recorded on earthenware or clay tablets, and the Korean people recorded on bamboo boards, which often appear in ancient dramas these days.
The important history, culture, and civilization of mankind has been developed through books (documents). In particular, the Bible is called the “Book Of Books (Super Book)” because it is the only true record of the origins and ancient history of mankind, as well as the revelation of spiritual wisdom for the kingdom of eternal life.
The Bible is also called the canon, meaning “standard, standard”, meaning it is the word that is the measure of life.
2. “Searching the Scriptures” (Reading and Meditation on the Scriptures):
1) “To ponder” means “to dig deep, to study diligently”.
It is a very good sign that this year's Nam missionary church especially promotes Bible reading (complete reading).
The Jewish spirit of searching for the Bible should be respected and learned. This is why Jews currently account for about 15,000,000 of the world's 6.5 billion people, accounting for 0.23% of the world's population, but they are still influential as the top elite within the top 1% of each field in the international community.
2) The Christian life and mission is to believe, read, understand, obey, teach, and preach the Bible as the Word of God.
As the saying goes, “You have to put salt in the furnace to make it salty,” you must believe and obey the Bible to fulfill the promise.
The most basic structure of the Bible consists of a conditional statement of obedience and the fulfillment of a promise: “If you will, I will…”
3) The Bible is inspired by God and must be helped by the Holy Spirit.
The Jews searched the Bible with their own heads and were excellent in human wisdom, but because they searched the Bible without the help of the Holy Spirit only by relying on their own understanding, they could not find the Savior Jesus Christ in the Bible and even killed the Messiah.
They may receive blessings, but they do not receive eternal life, and they even fall into self-righteousness and selfishness and become a threat to mankind.
3. “This is the scripture that testifies about me” (Jesus Christ, who believed and obeyed the Bible as the record of himself):
Jesus often used the term “according to the scriptures.” He believed that the Bible was written about him and obeyed the Bible. The reason Jesus is called the Son of God is because he lived according to the Bible, the Word of God the Father.
The saints (Christians) who became children of God through faith in Jesus Christ must also want to live according to the Bible.
1) The Bible is a record of myself. The story of Abraham, who left his father's home and lived in the land God directed, is our own story.
2) Our family It is also a story about our family. We can look back on our own family history in Jacob's family history, who confessed that he had lived as a twin brother for 130 years, giving birth to 4 wives and 12 sons.
3) It is also the history of our country and people. Therefore, we should be more intimate with the Bible, study the Bible more seriously, understand it with the help of the Holy Spirit, and live in obedience.
There's a lot of talk about testing these days. The book “The Ambassador of God” written by Ambassador Kim Ha-jung, a former diplomat, is also very moving.
Recently, Prosecutor Kim In-ho, chief prosecutor of the Gwangju High Prosecutor's Office, published a book of testimony of faith called “Special Prosecutor in Heaven. He is an elite prosecutor who served in the Special Division of the Seoul District Prosecutors' Office and the Supreme Prosecutors' Office.
However, in 1999, he realized the mission of preaching the gospel through the Bible, stopped drinking, and gave the Bible as a gift to start evangelism.
In the prosecutor's office with a strict hierarchy, he was relegated to the province twice for refusing to drink alcohol from his boss when he was the head of the Ilsan branch.
Currently, as an elder of Myungsung Church, he gave 10,000 Bibles as a gift and evangelized 20,000 people. In the past, it was said that “living according to the Bible” has become the goal of life.
