Title: Jesus Baptizing with the Holy Spirit

Contents

The text is from John 1:32-34

The Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit of God (1 Peter 1:16). To be in the class of holiness, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit. Because Jesus knew this, he repeatedly mentioned the Holy Spirit before he was crucified, and it is especially recorded in John 14-16 (John 14:16;26, 15:26, 16:7;13). The Holy Spirit, the Spirit,

First, it is the Spirit of the Comforter. The Comforter (παρακλητο ) means “one called to help.” Jesus did not call the Holy Spirit just a Comforter, but called “another Comforter” because Jesus Himself is the Comforter. (1 John 2:1) Jesus came to atone for our sins and play the role of defending us without sin before God. And the Holy Spirit came and defended that Jesus was the Savior of the world and the Son of God, who died on the cross and died on the cross for our sins, not our sins. That is why Jesus is called the Comforter, and the Holy Spirit is another Comforter. Jesus is our lawyer before God, and the Holy Spirit is Jesus' lawyer in the world.

Second, it is the Spirit of Immanuel. (John 14:16, Matthew 28:18-20) After ascending to heaven, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the heavenly throne. Through whom will He be with us? It is the Holy Spirit. Just as Jesus was with his disciples while he was on earth, after Jesus ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit is with the saints as helpers, comforters, counselors, mediators, and guides. Therefore, the saints living in the filling of the Holy Spirit can enjoy a more spiritual life than the disciples did with Jesus 2,000 years ago.

Third, it is the Spirit of truth (John 14:20, 16:13). It is the truth of God. Therefore, His word is truth (John 17:11), Jesus incarnate is the truth (John 14:6), and the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of God sent in the name of Jesus, is also truth (John 16:13).

Fourth, it is the Spirit of witness. (John 15:26, Acts 1:8) The Holy Spirit comes as a temple for the saints who have been saved through Jesus, and uses them as tools to preach Jesus to the world. That is why the saints boldly preached Jesus to the early church, including Peter, who denied Jesus three times. (Acts 5:18, 5:27;29) Christians must receive the Holy Spirit. You must be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Just as we were baptized with water, we need to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and be filled with the Holy Spirit to know, love, and preach Jesus. Therefore, Jesus' desire is to receive the Holy Spirit.

How important is the baptism of the Holy Spirit, even when He was resurrected and appeared to His disciples for the first time, He breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit” (John 20:23). The Holy Spirit is not an elective subject in which you may or may not receive the Holy Spirit. This is a compulsory subject that must be taken. Lord! Give me the fullness of the Holy Spirit too!
