Title: Jesus Christ/Colossians 1:9-20

Bible: Colossians 1:9~20

God created the heavens and the earth and created man on the last day. The world God created was very good to see. There was no pain, tears, or death there, and they lived happily while walking happily in the garden with God.

However, after Satan came to the Garden of Eden, a serious problem arose. Satan tempted Adam and Eve. ‘If you eat of the tree, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil!’

Adam and Eve were tempted to become like God and ate the fruit in the middle of the garden. As a result, Adam and Eve were cast out of Paradise, and death became inevitable.

When we think of sin, we often think of murder, robbery, and theft. Of course, the Bible says that all of this is sin. But the Bible emphasizes a more fundamental sin. It is living ignoring the God who created us, gave birth to us, and raised us. Sin comes from the heart that we can live without God and the idea that we can do everything on our own. The Bible declares this proud heart a sin. The cause of this sin is greed. Greed is the desire to control everything and become like God. As He said, “When lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, leads to death.

Sin drove everyone to death. In the face of this death, man was powerless. In the face of death, man despaired and had no hope whatsoever.

But God had mercy on man in the face of death. He opened the way of hope by sending his only son, Jesus Christ, as a savior. Jesus came to this earth to deliver us from iniquity and death, as Jesus said, “He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son of His love…” (Colossians 1:13). Therefore, John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, whoever believes in Jesus shall not perish but have eternal life.” Satan is always attacking us. It seems sweet at first, but once we get caught up in that sin, we fall, become miserable, and eventually fall into the abyss of doom. However, when the blood of Jesus on the cross comes into us, that Jesus helps us overcome sin and leads us to walk the path of righteousness and life.

In Genesis 37, Joseph is a representative person who overcame the temptation of sin and gained victory.

As a slave in Egypt, Joseph was persistently tempted by his mistress. But Joseph overcame the temptation. He was able to overcome temptation because in Joseph's heart there was a God who could overcome sin. There are many pitfalls and temptations in the world we live in today. But within us, there is someone who makes us walk away from this sinful path and walk toward the path of life and righteousness. He is Jesus Christ. Jesus allows us to overcome sin and walk on the path of righteousness and life.

Jesus clearly shows his friend Lazarus as the Lord of life through his death.

When Lazarus died, Jesus said, “Our friend Lazarus is asleep! I am going to wake you up” (John 11:11). When they arrived at the tomb of Lazarus by walking for three days, Lazarus was already dead and buried in a cave, and the door to the cave was firmly shut. Jesus spoke to Lazarus in the tomb. Lazarus! come out! Then the dead Lazarus got up, opened the tomb door, and came out. Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. Jesus is the master of life.

This incident of raising Lazarus from the dead clearly teaches the purpose of Jesus' coming. To give eternal life to those who believe in him.

Jesus took on all our sins, died on the cross, and rose from the dead three days later in order to give us eternal life. Jesus overcame death. “When this perishable puts on immortality, and the mortal puts on immortality, then the word that is written will come true, that death will be swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:55) The resurrection of Jesus moved us from eternal death to eternal life. Therefore, He said, “He who believes in Jesus, even if he dies, will live, and whoever lives and believes in Him will never die” (11:25-26).

Everyone, when we accept Jesus, our lives are changed anew. A negative life is transformed into a positive life, and a hopeless life is transformed into a hopeful life, and our good dreams come true. And he gives us the strength and wisdom to make that dream come true. Let's welcome Jesus this time. Wash away my sins with the blood of Jesus! let's pray Jesus will forgive all our sins and come among us to give us the joy of salvation.
