Title: Jesus Christ/Hebrews 1:4-14
Contents
As the introductory part of the book of Hebrews, in this chapter 1, the gospel is far superior to the law.
and that Jesus Christ is superior to any other prophet in the Old Testament.
I'm stating facts.
I. Jesus Christ, who is higher than the angels (4-8).
1. Evidence superior to angels (4-6).
1) First evidence -- `You are my son, and today I have begotten you' (4-5).
In verse 5, by quoting Psalm 2:7, "I send a spirit, the LORD said to me,
He said, "You are my son; today I have begotten you."
To which of them did you say that you are a son and that I gave birth to you?'
is. But in fact, in the Old Testament, angels were never called sons of God at all.
I know what isn't there. In the Old Testament, angels are referred to as 'sons of God'.
Yes (Job 1:6, 38:7). However, this refers to all angels, not individual titles.
It wasn't.
In particular, God is personally 'Son' to anyone except Jesus Christ.
I never said 'I gave birth'. Therefore, Jesus is superior to the angels.
This is a self-evident fact. This word means that you have a divinity.
2) Second evidence -- “I will be his father, and he will be my son” (2 Samuel 7:14)(5).
By referring to the Old Testament in 2 Samuel 7:14, the first evidence is further emphasized.
All.
3) The third evidence -- `...Let all the angels worship him' (Deuteronomy 32:43)(6).
This can be taken in two ways. One is that Jesus came into this world in the flesh
At his first coming, he had angels ministered to him. Another is that at the second coming of Jesus.
He said that he would cause the angels to glorify and worship Christ.
In this way, angels are the beings who attend, serve, and worship Jesus. Therefore, Jesus
He is far superior to the angels. If angels are great beings, then Jesus Christ
He is even more superior and worthy of glory and honor.
2. The difference between angels and Christ (7-8).
Early among the Jews it was thought that the Law was given by angels. And
Angels were considered to be the most outstanding of creatures. So to Jesus
As a result, there were some misunderstandings as someone belonging to the class of angels. so
It was clearly necessary to point out the difference between angels and Christ in this regard.
1) The dignity and duties of angels
(1) The dignity of angels -- Angels are spiritual beings. They are supernatural celestial beings.
Verse 14 says, “All angels are ministering spirits, serving for those who will inherit salvation.
When you see the words, "Isn't he sent by God?", although angels are spiritual beings, God's
They are creatures created to accomplish a will. Creatures created before man was created
As a result, you can go back and forth without any physical obstacles in the natural world (Acts 12:7) "Suddenly
An angel of the Lord stood beside him, and the light in the prison was still, and he struck Peter on the side to wake him up.
He said, "Get up quickly." And the chains fell from his hands."
is superhuman (2 Peter 2:11) “Even angels with greater strength and power cannot
I don't bring accusations against them." But isn't he an omniscient and omnipotent being?
C (Psalm 103:20, 2 Thessalonians 1:7/ Matthew 24:36, 1 Peter 1:12). However, with a much greater intelligence than humans,
You have been given wisdom (2 Samuel 14:17, 20)
(2) Duties of angels -- First, the activities of making known and foretelling God's will 18:9, Judges 13:2-24, Luke 1:13, 30, 2:8-15> God's imminent judgment or guilt on the righteous notice
(Genesis 18:16-19,29, Dan 8:19, Matthew 2:!3, Revelation 1-22)
Second, it plays a role of delivering guidance and instruction (Judges 13:3-5, Acts 7:38, Gal 3:19).
Third, it plays the role of guardianship and protection (Genesis 32:24, Exodus 14:19, Psalm 34:7 (
Fourth, it plays the role of helping (Luke 22:43, Acts 5:19, 12:6-11). In particular, God
We help you when you sell (Matthew 25:31, 24:31, Acts 12:23, Revelation 18:1, 21)
(3) The power given to perform the duties (7) -- In verse 7 of the text, “And concerning the angels, he
He makes his angels the wind and his ministers a flame of fire.”
God gave angels supernatural powers. That is, many talents and zeal
He gave me and light, and gave me a heart to always be used for the glory of God.
Therefore, they cannot be anything more than what God created them to be.
2) The dignity and ministry of Christ.
(1) The dignity of Christ (8) -- In verse 8 of the text, quoting Psalm 45:6-7, “About the Son
is, O God, your throne is everlasting, and the scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of fairness."
It was. Here we are saying that Christ possessed a true and faithful divinity.
By being called God, Christ is essentially demonstrating superiority over angels.
All. He is the Lord of the throne, which is essentially different from the angels.
Therefore, Christ is not the head of the angels, but is recognized as being equal to God.
He is the object of praise and worship from the liver.
(2) The ministry of Christ -- In verse 8 of the text, the “Lord, who loves righteousness and hates lawlessness”
The scepter of the kingdom is a fair scepter." The scepter is a symbol of royal power.
Christ is sovereign over all. The devil rules the whole world
to destroy us (Hebrews 2:14) and to convert sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32) and to save us (Luke 19:10).
He came to this earth to give his body as a ransom (Mark 10:45). This job is
No one, not even an angel, can do it for you. The angels only serve him.
II. The Eternal Lord and the King of Righteousness and Justice (9-12).
1. Christ the Creator
Christ, who existed before the foundation of the world, existed before the foundation of the world as the Word and
You are a participant in the ministry. And he created all things. In verse 10, "And
In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens were the work of your hands."
There is.
2. Christ of Righteousness and Justice (8-9)
Verses 8-9, “As for the Son, O God, your throne endures forever, and the scepter of your kingdom is empty.
Peaceful scepter because you loved righteousness and hated iniquity; therefore God, your
God has given you the oil of joy, that you are superior to your fellow men.”
The world is full of wealth and injustice, but Christ our Lord is never injustice and injustice.
He is without injustice.
III. Christ the Supreme (13-14).
1. Jesus was entrusted with the sovereignty of God (13).
Verse 13 says, “Sit at my right hand!”
