Title: Jesus Coming / John 1:1-18
Jesus Coming
John 1:1-18
Last year, at the Busan Women's Welfare Center revival meeting, about 100 teenage girls who had fallen into the path of unhappiness sang diligently and worshiped. I asked the girls. "[Does God really love me?] If you want to believe, but don't believe, raise your hand." Most of the girls who sang the hymn raised their hands. A crumpled life, an unhappy family, whatever it is, it is not believing that you are loved or worthy of God.
Not only these girls, but many saints still do not enjoy the wonderful grace of God in Jesus Christ. I pray that you will enjoy the wonderful grace of God promised in Jesus Christ through the exposition of the Gospel of John that will continue from now on.
The core of today's text, which begins the Gospel of John, is two messages about Jesus.
One is that just as light shines in darkness, our Savior, Jesus, forsook His heavenly throne and came into this world. Verse :9 says, "There was the true light, which came into the world and gave light to every man." Second, people hated Jesus, who came as the light. Verse 10-11 says, “He was in the world, and the world was made through him, but the world did not know him; he came to his own land, and his people did not receive him.”
How are you experiencing the word Jesus is the light?
When a light shines in a dark room, everyone knows right away. "Oh, it's bright!" But there are a lot of people who don't feel that way about Jesus. When I look at the church members who worship, I see that there are those who have been forced to come. I don't know what the sermons are, I don't feel anything special during the hymns, and no matter how much I go to church, it's rather uncertain whether God is alive or not.
This is because he is spiritually blind. Those who have not opened their spiritual eyes cannot know Jesus as the light. It's like a blind person can't see light.
The owner of the inn in Bethlehem did not recognize him. Most of the Jews who longed for the Messiah did not recognize it. Herod and the Jewish religious leaders tried to kill Jesus. Because he was spiritually blind.
Then why do we become spiritually blind? Because the spirit died because of sin.
[Ephesians 2:1] He made you, who were dead in your trespasses and sins, alive.
In Ephesians 4:19, the Apostle Paul said, "When they became numb, and gave themselves over to licentiousness, doing all unclean things with greediness", the sinner is "a senseless person." That's why it says in :5, "The light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not understand it." Darkness is better for those who have become spiritually blind. Rather, I hate the light, and even the light is painful.
A few years ago, an article about the suicide of a professor's wife appeared in the social pages of the newspaper. Because they were such a sweet couple, the wife who lost her husband fell into depression. My younger son, who is in high school, committed suicide at dawn one day a few days before his college entrance exam. And he left a will to his son. "It's sad that I don't see you going to college and go first. Please understand and forgive your mom for everything. I hope that you will listen to your brother instead of mom and dad and succeed in good health." will be A lot of people like this. Some people live with a sense of inferiority. Some people live by hatred and hatred. Some people live with anxieties and worries.
You must believe in Jesus to change your life. Life becomes brighter. This is because Jesus pours out God's love on every heart that is stained with bitter roots, a heart full of resentment and hatred.
When I think of my high school days, I often have a bitter laugh. While discussing philosophies I didn't know well with my friends, I would say, "I love the agony of Socrates more than the comfort of a pig." Then, for some reason, I walked around with a serious face as if I was carrying all the worries of the world. Because I did not want to live like a comfortable pig. But it was an illusion. Just because he had a serious expression on his face didn't make him Socrates. And what is the use of becoming like Socrades? You must be like Jesus.
Is there still someone who hasn't truly accepted Jesus as their Savior? Receive Jesus now. Even if you have not yet experienced Him, please believe that Jesus is coming to you.
[John 1:12] To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
No matter how dark your life may be, when Jesus comes, it will be bright. Because Jesus is the true light. For those who suffer because of sin, Jesus is truly a brilliant light. Because Jesus is the Lord of the Atonement. The most important thing for a person is to be forgiven. This is true between married couples and between parents and children. True and complete forgiveness is with Jesus. The root of all life's problems is meeting God. For those who want to meet God, Jesus is truly a brilliant light. Because through Jesus we meet God.
[John 1:18] No one has ever seen God, but the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, has made him known.
Is there anyone who has believed in Jesus for a long time, but still does not know Jesus as the true light? Please accept Jesus as your King.
I also believed in Jesus, but for a while I did not know that I had to accept Jesus as my King. However, God allowed me to experience grace, confessed Jesus as king, and accepted Him. Since then, my life has changed tremendously.
A young man promised to offer his body as a living sacrifice to God. One day, my co-workers were chatting with me, but they said, "I'm sorry, but I can't because I don't have arms." You need this attitude. Billy Graham, when he was a boy, gave himself to God and used him as the world's greatest evangelist.
I hope that you will also welcome the coming Jesus. “Jesus, come as my savior and my king.”
