Jesus does not change (Hebrews 13:8)
Entering the cathedral in Milan, Italy, there are three arched doors. When you enter one door, a rose wreath is placed on the door, and the following words are engraved below it.
“Everything that rejoices is only a moment.”
On the other door there is a cross carved on it, and on it are written the following words: “Everything that suffers is but a moment.”
And the door in the center is engraved with the following words:
"The most important thing is eternity..."
Everything in this world, such as wealth, fame, power, and happiness, flickers like a lamp.
Everyone is changing in this world. Mountains and streams change, people/people change, ethics and morals, customs, politics, education, military, music, transportation, the way things change, the principles of things change, and generations and history change. However, there is one thing that remains constant amidst all these changes, is the Big Seven (北斗七星 = the seven scoop-shaped stars most clearly visible in the constellation Ursa the Great) (Jesus Christ alone).
Jesus, who does not change yesterday, today, or forever, is like the Big Dipper floating high in the universe. It does not change its place, the light does not change, and the light does not abolish it. It's always the way it is. Jesus, whom we believe in, is indeed the rock of eternal life and is unchanging.
Then what does not change so forever ?
1. Jesus Himself (self) does not change forever.
The four seasons are a cycle of unchanging cycles, such as the warm spring season when flowers and shrimp are in full bloom; the sweltering summer when green grass is lush and cicadas roar; the autumn season when the five grains are ripe and the yellow leaves of the country are colored beautifully; Under the principle, the global village (the world) is changing. The universe is constantly changing.
According to city experts, Venice, considered one of the most beautiful, is slowly sinking into the sea. And because of air pollution, many ancient sculptures and buildings are being damaged by acidification.
In the words of Dr. Roberto Prasetto, “they have endured well for centuries, but now they can no longer withstand the chemical and physical erosion of the atmosphere.”
No one is forever. There is no eternal city. There is no eternal power. There is no eternal power. Only Jesus Christ is eternal. Amen.
Whether in the past or today, everyone calls them titles at one time, praising them as great men, and respecting them as celebrities, but as time goes by, their names disappear like a mist and there is not much left. But Jesus will be as clear as the sun in the past, today, and in the future.
The text of the text (Hebrews 13:8) says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Literally translated, it says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”
Jesus has eternal nature. It is eternity, eternal existence itself, whose attributes cannot change, grow old, decline, or disappear.
That is why he says, “The Lord remains” (Hebrews 1:12), “Jesus is forever” (Hebrews 7:24), and “He lives always” (Hebrews 7:25). Amen.
2. The truth of Jesus does not change forever.
Hymn 14:4 says, “Our Lord, who is truth, does not change forever.
Believe in the Lord, brethren, that the way may serve you.”
Let's look at the words of John 14:6. “Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.”
Here, Jesus refers to himself and says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” However, in the Greek Bible, the definite article is attached before the words of way, truth, and life.
What does it mean ? Jesus is not a ‘one way’ but ‘the only way’. No one can go to the Father (God) except through Jesus. There is no salvation except Jesus (Acts 4:12). And only Jesus can give us eternal life. Also, Jesus is not a single truth, but the word “absolutely immutable truth”.
The Bible says (2 Corinthians 13:8) that we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth.
There are two lessons to be learned from this verse.
One). If you go against the truth, nothing will happen.
The “truth” here refers to Jesus Christ (John 14:6), the Word of God (John 17:17), and the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:7). Rebelling against Jesus, who is the truth, is a challenge to the truth.
Who dares to wage a fight against Jesus the King of kings? The rebels of the Old and New Testaments who fought fearlessly died. The founders of communism, Karl Marx and Lenin, also died. The king of Japan, who claimed to be the Heavenly King, also died. You must not go against Jesus (truth). It's like trying to break a rock with an egg. don't do it
2) You must live for the truth.
To live for the truth is to live for Jesus. To live for Jesus means to exalt Him, to serve Him, to obey/submit, and to live with pride
So, to have good faith means to value Jesus more than me. It means giving priority to the things of Jesus over the things of my private life.
To follow and obey Jesus' will more than my own is to live for the truth. And that kind of life is a life of high marks.
The truth of Jesus does not change, does not perish, expands vigorously, swept through the world, and has continued to this day, and will be transmitted unchanged and eternally through generations to come. Amen.
Author Sheldon suggests what life should be like for people who resemble Jesus in his book What Jesus Would Do.
There was a soprano singer. Before she had the heart of Jesus, she sang anywhere and anytime to earn money and gain fame. However, after starting to resemble Jesus, I wondered if Jesus would have sang this song here at this time.
There was a famous theater actor. No matter how expensive the cost of appearing and a good role, he first thought about what Jesus would have done before making a decision.
There was a famous writer. No matter how wonderful the idea of a work was, I wondered if Jesus would have written such a work first, even if the material was secured.
There was a chaebol businessman who made a lot of money. Before becoming more like Jesus, he did anything to make money by any means and methods. But after I decided to be like Jesus, I started thinking about whether Jesus would have done that business, and whether he would make money in that way.
It is this attitude of life that resembles Jesus.
Would Jesus do this? Would Jesus say this?
Would Jesus go there? If it was Jesus, would you meet him?
Would Jesus have it?
The Word of the Bible (1 Corinthians 11:1) says, “Be ye imitators of me, just as I have become imitators of Christ.”
Let us be like Jesus, who is unchanging day by day, moment by moment, and forever. Have I really become like Jesus? Just like I sometimes check the engine of a car, sometimes I tune a piano, I pray that I may become a person after Jesus' heart by checking my faith from time to time. Amen.
Let's all go to heaven together by believing in Jesus who never changes for eternity. - Amen -.
