Title: Jesus Gives Shalom (John 05:1-18)
Content Today we want to be healed of our souls through the Word of God.
By the Sheep Gate in Jerusalem, there are five porches in a pool called Bethesda, where many sick people were waiting to be healed of their ailments.
They waited because of the belief that angels sometimes come down to the pond to stir the water, and whoever enters first at that time will be healed of any disease.
There was a 38-year-old sick man.
It is not known how long he waited by the pool of Bethesda, but the fact that he had been ill for 38 years shows how serious the disease was.
The sick man met Jesus.
So I was healed.
I hope that all of us can be healed of our diseases through these words today.
The word Bethesda means the house of mercy.
The house of God is a house of mercy like Bethesda, a fountain of salvation that heals the sick.
If you do not know how long you have been attending church, but you have not yet attained the integrity of your soul, I hope that you will enter Bethesda with the help of God working in today's Word.
No, I want you to meet Jesus Christ rather than that.
Then you will have the shalom of Christ who gives you wholeness.
Saints! How many years have you longed for your perfection? How much have you tried to shake off your long life in despair. I hope this time bears fruit today.
How many of us are like the sick of Bethesda? The Bible is full of descriptions of human wretchedness.
Some of us are full of sin, evil habits, and worldly greed.
We are all sick because of sin.
All such people must come to the house of God, the house of mercy.
All the people gathered at the Bethesda Pond were suffering from various diseases.
Many people in this world have always suffered from sorrow and disease, and this is still the case today.
Even today, there are many people who long to receive grace just like those who wait for the water to move by the pool of Bethesda.
There are many who long for the angel who appeared at the pool of Bethesda to appear now. The angel is not a being of the past, not a being in the future, but a present being who can appear at this very moment.
Do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit or to be healed? Listen carefully.
When the pond water was frozen, people knew that the water had a healing effect.
However, the fluctuations of the water with its healing power are not caused by our own strength, but God must move the water.
Let's relate the text to the problem of our salvation.
It was an angel sent by God who made the water of Bethesda pool move and heal diseases, but the spring of life to wash away our sins is Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The water of Bethesda does not always have healing power, but it is effective when it moves, but the healing power of our Lord Jesus Christ is constant.
The fountain of Christ's atonement is not limited, and even if all the people of this world enter, it can be washed away.
Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, enter into the spring waters of Christ.
There will not be a single dead person there.
No one will be imperfect.
My dear brothers and sisters! Enter the spring waters of Christ that make you whole.
Beloved brothers and sisters! Let's look at the people suffering from all kinds of ailments gathered by the pool of Bethesda.
There, there were people who were blind due to all kinds of eye diseases.
Saints! Can you see properly? Can you see Jesus Christ? I don't know if you and I are blind, unable to see Jesus Christ because we have a disease of the soul caused by sin.
Let's look to Jesus Christ.
Let's look to Christ who opens our eyes.
By the pool of Bethesda, there were a group of lame people who could not use their legs properly due to various diseases.
How about ourselves? Are there any lame who cannot stand up because of our sins and the spiritual disease caused by them, or the lame who cannot lead a perfect life of faith? Let's take a right step by walking with Jesus Christ.
There were skinny people who could not move properly because their muscles were weakened.
As we do not pray, serve, or listen to the Word, our spiritual strength is weakened and we cannot enter quickly when the water is moving. no.
When the power of God is revealed, let us be quick to respond when Christ calls us.
Dear brothers and sisters! Jesus is the King of Shalom.
The crippled man in the text was suffering from a more severe illness than the other sick people.
They couldn't get into the water with quick motion, so they had to rely on help from others.
But they couldn't get help.
Because it was too much for everyone to move with one body.
Those who can help them must be healthy, because there were none.
The way people live is that there are actually kind people at the banquet table, but there are no people who can afford to help others at the hospital.
Because everyone is in a hurry to cure their illness.
However, since Jesus is a doctor who heals, not a patient, he takes genuine interest in all patients and meets them with a will to heal them.
So Jesus, dealing with the sick, says:
Instead of asking <Are you going to get better> or <What is your disease>, He asks our will.
<Do you want to be healed?> Jesus asked the patient about his will and faith in healing.
<Get up, take your bed and go> Jesus asks all of us will at this time.
<Do you really want to be healed from the disease of death due to sin?>
What is the answer you want to hear? <Get up, pick up your bed and go> One word is enough.
If you receive this word as Amen, you will experience shalom.
Even a 38-year old disease can be cured with just one word.
Do you believe that the words of Jesus Christ are enough for our thousands of years of original sin, the sins of our ancestors, all of our past, and the serious illness of the soul that cannot be healed on its own? The healing of Christ is immediate.
And it's perfect.
Let us now accept by faith the power of Christ to raise up the 38-year-old patient immediately and walk him.
And let us be sure that we too can walk as whole people.
Dear brothers and sisters! Do you believe in being made perfect, then let's listen to the word of the Lord again.
<Never sin again> If we are sure of the healing of Jesus Christ, we must strive to live a holy life so that we do not sin again.
We cannot resist what God has made perfect.
Let us believe in the power of the Lord to guide us in spite of all the satanic tricks that make us fall, and let us never again fall under the bondage of sin and death.
Jesus asks you again.
<Do you want to be healed?> Jesus' healing does not take 100 years.
Blessed are those who receive Amen.
Because that's when you get it right away.
Because it instantly becomes whole.
It is because they immediately possess the citizenship of heaven.
Praise the name of the Lord who gives shalom to all of us.
Hallelujah!
