Title: Jesus Healing the Sick

Jesus Healing the Sick (Matthew 8:1-4)

While Matthew 5, 6, and 7 recorded the precious words taught to the disciples on the mountain, chapter 8 shows how to live and practice the teachings of Jesus in detail from now on. There are many people who are good at talking, but life is completely different.

Today's text begins like this. “A leper came up and bowed down and said, “Lord, if you will, you can make him clean” (verse 2). The Bible also describes lepers as negative. (Leviticus 13:46)

The leper healing case in today's text has several implications.

First, it means that God loves even those dirty people.

Second, it means that Jesus heals even these incurable diseases.

third. It contains the meaning of that person is my spiritual self.

The leper came to Jesus to heal him. It would not have been easy to say that you came to Jesus through the crowd. How could you do that, despite the boos of the crowd, who covered their noses, threw stones, and groaned? He had absolute faith. And this leper was humble. He came to Jesus and bowed down, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” Jesus healed this desperate leper. Verse 3 says, “Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him.” In the book of the Law, it was written not to touch the leper's body. Jesus' love ignored the law and was not afraid of infection. Are there any saints who are groaning from what disease today? I hope you will find Jesus by faith and pray with humility.

So, what is the modern meaning of Jesus' healing of a leper?

First, it is the mission that the church should give to the world. Why should Christians love and serve their neighbors who have been abandoned by the world? biblical basis. Just as Jesus Himself touched and healed the wounds of a leper, we must practice this kind of love for our neighbors who are living in pain. Don't be a person who only talks to a person who is naked and has no daily bread, telling them to go in peace, keep them warm, and fill them up, and don't give them what they need. Faith without works is itself dead. (James 2:16,17)

How did Elisha raise the son of the Shunammite woman from the dead? (2 Kings 4:34ff.) He climbed on top of the child and fell on his face, and put his mouth in his mouth. As he lay down on his body with his eyes on his eyes and his hands on his hands, the child's flesh gradually warmed up. When Elisha got down, walked around the house once, and fell on the child again, the child struck her seven times and opened her eyes. The love of Jesus healed the leper. Elisha's love brought the dead child back to life.

Second, it contains the heart of Jesus who wants to save any sinner spiritually.

This is what this leper looked like before I met Jesus. Jesus came to me, took me by His hand, healed me, and gave me a new person and new life. It is our responsibility to spread this love widely. Peter stretched out his hand to the lame man who was sitting at the beautiful gate of the temple and begging, silver and gold, which I do not have, but give me what I have; in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, he commanded him to rise and walk.

Believe in Jesus and go to heaven. What greater blessing is there than this? Those who still do not know God are spiritual lepers who go to hellfire. Let's evangelize them to meet Jesus and receive eternal life.
